| Abstract: | The purpose of this study is to investigate the following questions: What factors leads to success in mathematics, and how can these success factors and qualities be described? Will the teacher’s education and pedagogical praxis have an impact on good learning results? We report results from a case-control association study on among high achievement classes in mathematics in Norway. The data were collected from matched pairs of schools, paired on the basis of location and socioeconomic status. The questionnaire was first distributed to teachers in 38 Norwegian secondary schools at grade 9, which have had repeated success in the annual KappAbel competition in mathematics. Subsequently, 38 teachers at schools without success were contacted, and answered the same questionnaire. The main findings of the study are the following: The formal academic competence of the teacher is the best predictor for good results. Moreover, the pedagogical profile is reason oriented, where students are challenged to evaluate and substantiate their arguments, and spreadsheet is used for exploration and computation. |

| Abstract: | Programmet Biblio ble utviklet med Dbase II. |

| Abstract: | Abstract In a comparative analysis of municipal and banking organisations, this paper examines how dialogs, inspired by the World Cafe approach, can contribute to developing reflective and organisational learning. Participatory and appreciative action and reflection (PAAR) helps people to understand their circumstances with a view to changing them for the better. This creates opportunities to develop employee communication and shared understanding. Continuous support for a dialogic process of this sort needs tolerance. The world cafe can have a long-term and sustainable effect. The basis for the comparative analysis was dialog seminars and an analysis of cafe dialogs. It is important to gain full support for cafe dialogs from an organisation's senior management before expanding them to the whole organisation. Reflective learning is a more complex phenomenon than formerly assumed because the conscious or unconscious participation of senior management can significantly influence reflective learning processes. If increased integrity and mutual respect are attained through dialog it is worth asking how this can also be further developed in different organisations. |

| Abstract: | The aim of this study was to investigate the development of food habits in adolescents in Tromsø, whether pupil behaviour regarding food habits had changed in grade 10 compared to grade eight, and whether this was linked to pupils` Home Economics lessons in grade nine. A total of 606 adolescents (321 boys and 285 girls) were studied on two different occasions – 2002 and 2005, A food-frequency questionnaire comprising 16 different food and beverage groups was used. The questionnaire also enquired about food habits, the amounts consumed of some food items and the socioeconomic conditions of the participants and their families. The frequency of eating breakfast, lunch and dinner reduced from 8th to 10th grade. No significant differences were found between 8th and 10th graders in their frequency of consuming fruit and vegetables. Tenth graders ate chocolate and snacks more often than 8th graders. Girls reported eating fruit and vegetables more often than boys. This applies to both 8th and 10th graders. Far more pupils from both groups need to eat more fruit and vegetables every day. The conclusion of the study is that food habits change significantly from the 8th to the 10th grade. Further progress must be achieved in addressing the issue of translating the theory of nutritional education into practice. More studies and evidence are required to understand the potential of the Home Economics curricula to change the unhealthy eating trends seen in this and other studies. |

| Abstract: | Denne rapporten oppsummerer prosjektet ”Spesialpedagogisk kompetanseutvikling Norge–-Nordvest-Russland 2002–2005”.
