This case study is a phenomenological analysis of Japanese immigration policies. The objective of this research is to produce a cogent interpretation of why Japanese Immigration Policies are so strict. Societal perspectives have been taken in consideration as one of the important aspects to explore. Japanese Society is considered unique, as it has distinctive principles based on the peace and harmony of the people of Japan. These ancient ethics, dating back to the 6th century, are still believed and used in the nowadays social structures. Research into these structures, coupled with a deep analysis of the immigration policies of Japan, it has been possible to elucidate some of the reasons why these immigration policies are so strict. The study has shown that a common intention from all the population is to carry harmony in order to live peacefully; however, Japanese believe that immigrants could attack this harmony because foreigners are not pure Japanese people. Hence, to describe this state of affairs, an interesting new adjective has been coined: Peaceful Japanese Nationalism. Japan is considered in this project as a nation that carries nationalism in a peaceful way, in name of harmony.en_US
