In applications for technical problems, Geometric modeling and sensor technology are key in both scientific and industrial development. Simulations and visualization techniques are the next step after defining geometry models and data types. This thesis attempts to combine different aspects of geometric modeling and sensor technology as well as to facilitate simulation and visualization. It includes two areas; - Applications and tools for geometric modeling, such as constructions, physical problems, terrain generation and cutting algorithms. - Sensor technology and a generic layer of information as a result of measurements and data analysis in connection with visualization, modeling, development of hybrid solutions and methods for assessing road conditions. Visualization and data presentation is important when dealing with applications and tools for studying properties, such methods for visualization and constructions are presented.en_US

With the development of geometric modeling and constructions, as well as various forms of sensor technology, new opportunities for applications and tools for pre- and post-processing are emerging. For technical problems and designs, such tools include the development of models for further analysis in simulation and visualization frameworks. The development of applications and tools for such frameworks provides motivation to explore unique combinations of both constructions and technology in the context of applied mathematics. Such tools are often needed to provide decision support and understanding of complex issues. This dissertation consists of a collection of methods and tools for modeling, simulation, visualization and sensor technology and data processing. Such tools include constructions, physical problems, and terrain generation and sensor technology applications for assessment and providing new layers of information when processing data captured using sensors.en_US
