Vo, Van Nhan; Viet Hung, Dang; Tran, Hung; Ha, Dac-Binh; Le, Cong; Ho, Tu Dac; Chakchai, So-In (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-03-31)
Recently, the combination of cognitive radio networks with the nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA) approach has emerged as a viable option for not only improving spectrum usage but also supporting large numbers of wireless communication connections. However, cognitive NOMA networks are unstable and vulnerable because multiple devices operate on the same frequency band. To overcome this drawback, ...
    • Security Constrained Unit Commitment and Economic Dispatch applied to the Modified IEEE 39-bus system Case

Tricarico, Gioacchino; Azuara-Grande, Luis Santiago; Wagle, Raju; Gonzalez-Longatt, Francisco; Dicorato, Maria; Forte, Giuseppe; Rueda, Jose Luis (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel, 2022-12-09)
The operation schedule of the power generation units in electrical power systems is determined by the optimisation problem known as unit commitment (UC), aiming at minimising the total cost considering the generation constraints. To obtain a feasible solution from the network perspective, the security-constrained UC (SCUC) problem has been defined to embed the network constraints in the optimisation ...

    • Sensitivity Analysis and Case Studies for CO2 Transportation Energy Consumption

Jackson, Steven (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020)
The transportation of CO2 is important to all Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) projects. Both the infrastructure costs – compressors, pipelines, tanker ships, etc. – and the energy consumed in the compression or liquefaction of CO2 are significant. Understanding how the size, capacity and energy consumption of transportation alternatives varies between projects is therefore important. Modelling ...
    • Sensitivity Analysis of Thermal Degradation of Plastic Waste Using Statistically Assumed Exponential Factors and Activation Energies

Un Nabi, Rao Adeel; Hussain, Hammad; Naz, Yasin; Shukrullah, Shazia; Khawaja, Hassan; Irfan, Muhammad; Rahman, Saifur; Jazem Ghanim, Abdulnour Ali (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-04-04)
The rise in the production of plastic waste has prompted the exploration of various recovery options instead of landfilling, burning, and other unethical ways of decomposing. The experimentally generated rate constants for the thermal processing of plastic waste do not yield enough liquid fuels and gases for commercial-scale usage. It is imperative to predict kinetic rate constants statistically ...
    • A sharp boundedness result for restricted maximal operators of Vilenkin-Fourier series on martingale Hardy spaces

Blahota, Istvan; Nagy, Karoly; Persson, Lars Erik; Tephnadze, George (Journal article; Peer reviewed, 2018-09-20)
The restricted maximal operators of partial sums with respect to bounded Vilenkin systems are investigated. We derive the maximal subspace of positive numbers, for which this operator is bounded from the Hardy space H p to the Lebesgue space L p for all 0<p≤1 . We also prove that the result is sharp in a particular sense.

Baramidze, Lasha; Persson, Lars Erik; Tephnadze, G; Wall, P (Peer reviewed; Journal article; Tidsskriftsartikkel, 2016-10-01)
We prove and discuss some new Hp-Lp type inequalities of weighted maximal operators of Vilenkin-Nörlund means with monotone coefficients. It is also proved that these inequalities are the best possible in a special sense. We also apply these results to prove strong summability for such Vilenkin-Nörlund means. As applications, both some well-known and new results are pointed out.
    • Sharpness of some Hardy-type inequalities

Persson, Lars-Erik; Samko, Natasha Gabatsuyevna; Tephnadze, George (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-12-04)
The current status concerning Hardy-type inequalities with sharp constants is presented and described in a unified convexity way. In particular, it is then natural to replace the Lebesgue measure dx with the Haar measure . There are also derived some new two-sided Hardy-type inequalities for monotone functions, where not only the two constants are sharp but also the involved function spaces are ...

    • Ship resistance analysis using CFD simulations in Flow-3D

Deshpande, Sujay; Sundsbø, Per-Arne; Das, Subhashis (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-09-19)
While designing the power requirements of a ship, the most important factor to be considered is the ship resistance, or the sea drag forces acting on the ship. It is important to have an estimate of the ship resistance while designing the propulsion system since the power required to overcome the sea drag forces contribute to ‘losses’ in the propulsion system. There are three main methods to calculate ...
    • Ship-icing prediction methods applied in operational weather forecasting

Samuelsen, Eirik Mikal (Journal article; Peer reviewed; Tidsskriftartikkel, 2017-10-11)
Sea-spray wetting of ships operating in cold environments imposes a great safety risk, due to icing. For this reason, marine-icing warnings have been a part of operational weather forecasting for the last five decades, yet verification of such warnings has only been done sparingly. This article evaluates different ship-icing methods applied in operational weather forecasting. The methods are tested ...
    • Shock Tube. Detail overview of equipment and instruments in the shock tube experimental setup

Khawaja, Hassan Abbas; Kapaya, Juma; Moatamedi, Mojtaba (Book; Bok, 2015)
The shock tube is a device in which a normal shock wave is produced by the interaction of fluids at significantly high-pressure difference. The shock tube is comprised of two sections known as driver and driven sections. These two sections are interacted with the high-speed valve or a bursting disc. When the interaction happens, a shock wave forms almost instantaneously and propagates into the driven ...
