Jorda Langfeldt, Maria Cristina (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2011-11-15)
    • Oroch vowel harmony

Tolskaya, Inna Konstantinovna (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2008-04-01)
In this paper I examine vowel harmony in Oroch, a recently extinct Manchu-Tungusic language. Oroch vowels are subject to the interplay of retracted tongue root (RTR) harmony and rounding harmony. The two kinds of harmony have contrasting effects on neutral vowels. The front vowels /i/ and / æ/ are transparent to RTR harmony, while the vowels /i/, /æ/, /ʊ/ and /u/ are opaque to rounding harmony. ...
    • Orphanhood and trauma in Toni Morrison's A Mercy and Beloved

Engen, Nena Katrin (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2018-05-15)
Abstract The current thesis examines the themes trauma and orphanhood and how they are connected in Toni Morrison’s two novels A Mercy (2008) and Beloved (1987), respectively. I will examine how traumatic experiences and the notion of both literal and cultural orphanhood affects the community, and how this has changed from the story in A Mercy being set in the late 17th century and to the story in ...
    • Oscillatory brain responses to processing code-switches in the presence of others

Tomic, Aleksandra; Kaan, Edith (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-06-07)
Code-switching, i.e. the alternation between languages in a conversation, is a typical, yet socially-constrained practice in bilingual communities. For instance, code-switching is permissible only when other conversation partners are fluent in both languages. Studying code-switching provides insight in the cognitive and neural mechanisms underlying language control, and their modulation by ...

Andersen, Anine Therese (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2007-06-05)

    • "Our combined voices are a chorus: Grief and Survivance in Linda Hogan's Solar Storms"

Castor, Laura (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2021-01-25)
While Linda Hogan scholars generally agree that in her literature of environmental justice, grieving the effects of colonised territory and culture can motivate characters to confront oppressive authority figures, scholars have not considered how representations of grief in Hogan’s novels are themselves significant political acts worthy of analysis. In this article, I argue that Hogan’s narrator ...
    • Out of mind - out of sight : studies on clinical and psychophysiological characteristics of dissociative identity disorder

Dale, Karl Yngvar (Doctoral thesis; Doktorgradsavhandling, 2008-06)
Dissociative identity disorder (DID; APA, 1994), previously labeled Multiple personality (APA, 1980) and Multiple Personality Disorder (APA, 1987), has good diagnostic validity (Gleaves, May, & Cardeña, 2001) and is supported by taxometric research, whereby two types of dissociation have been identified: Pathological dissociation, whose features are consistent with DID, and nonpathological dissociation ...
    • Out of the Shadows: LGBTQ+ representation in the Television Show Shadowhunters

Jenssen, Irene Lihaug (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2021-11-22)
When the Television Show Shadowhunters was cancelled in its third season, it brought about an upheaval in the fandom. Never has a worldwide campaign of this magnitude been seen before. The show included a lot of characters belonging to the LGBTQ+ community; a line-up such as this was very rare at the time. This thesis looks into the effects LGBTQ+ representation might have, using Shadowhunters as ...

Höper, Jan; Køller, Hans-Georg (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2018-09-17)

We used video observation and interviews to gain insight into student teachers’ expectations and experiences of such fieldwork. Through thematic analysis, we found that the participants perceived the approach as individually relevant and worthy of ...

    • Ovale spenner i Nord-Norge og Trøndelag. Stil og symbolisme i sosial sammenheng

Eldorhagen, Marianne (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2001-12-07)

Lund, Niels Windfeld (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel, 2019)

Origin of overalls <p>A short history ...
    • Overapplication opacity in phonological acquisition

Urek, Olga (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2013)
Phonological opacity is a challenge for parallel OT, which does not allow for intermediate levels of representation. Several modifications of the theory have been proposed over the years to incorporate opacity, all of them falling short of accounting for spontaneous opacity effects in developing grammars. In this paper I demonstrate that if certain independently motivated adjustments are made to ...
