    • General Monitoring of Observational Units in the Arctic Tundra

Karlstrøm, Erlend Melum (Mastergradsoppgave; Master thesis, 2021-05-15)
Climate change is going to change what we know about the arctic tundra. Patterns in the behavior of the wildlife that lives there are predicted to undergo a shift, and it will therefore be important to have reliable sources of empirical data, so that we can understand how these developments are playing out. The arctic tundra is remote and difficult to deploy sensing instruments on, and signal ...
    • General recurrence-relation generation scheme for molecular integral evaluation

Gao, Bin (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-09-24)
We develop a new scheme for evaluating different molecular integrals using Gaussian type orbitals. In this new scheme, the evaluation of integrals is performed in two steps during runtime. The first step is a top-down procedure that maps each recurrence relation into a jagged array (array of arrays), where each element of a member array represents either the final results or some intermediate integrals ...
    • Generalization of Intrinsic Orbitals to Kramers-Paired Quaternion Spinors, Molecular Fragments, and Valence Virtual Spinors

Senjean, Bruno; Sen, Souloke; Repisky, Michal; Knizia, Gerald; Visscher, Lucas (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2021-02-08)
Localization of molecular orbitals finds its importance in the representation of chemical bonding (and antibonding) and in the local correlation treatments beyond mean-field approximation. In this paper, we generalize the intrinsic atomic and bonding orbitals [G. Knizia, J. Chem. Theory Comput. 2013, 9, 11, 4834–4843] to relativistic applications using complex and quaternion spinors, as well as to ...
    • A generalization of Kung’s theorem

Johnsen, Trygve; Shiromoto, Keisuke; Verdure, Hugues (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2015-10-01)
We give a generalization of Kung’s theorem on critical exponents of linear codes over a finite field, in terms of sums of extended weight polynomials of linear codes. For all i=k+1,…,ni=k+1,…,n, we give an upper bound on the smallest integer m such that there exist m codewords whose union of supports has cardinality at least i.
    • A generalization of weight polynomials to matroids

Johnsen, Trygve; Roksvold, Jan Nyquist; Verdure, Hugues (Tidsskriftartikkel; Journal article; Peer reviewed, 2015-11-11)
Generalizing polynomials previously studied in the context of linear codes, we define weight polynomials and an enumerator for a matroid M. Our main result is that these polynomials are determined by Betti numbers associated with N0-graded minimal free resolutions of the Stanley-Reisner ideals of M and so-called elongations of M. Generalizing Greene’s the- orem from coding theory, we show that ...
    • Generalized eigenvalue methods for Gaussian quadrature rules

Blekherman, Grigoriy; Kummer, Mario; Riener, Cordian; Schweighofer, Markus; Vinzant, Cynthia (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020)
A quadrature rule of a measure <i>µ</i> on the real line represents a conic combination of finitely many evaluations at points, called nodes, that agrees with integration against <i>µ</i> for all polynomials up to some fixed degree. In this paper, we present a bivariate polynomial whose roots parametrize the nodes of minimal quadrature rules for measures on the real line. We give two symmetric ...
    • A generalized few-state model for the first hyperpolarizability

Alam, MD Mehboob; Beerepoot, Maarten; Ruud, Kenneth (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-06-22)
The properties of molecules depend on their chemical structure, and thus, structure–property relations help design molecules with desired properties. Few-state models are often used to interpret experimental observations of non-linear optical properties. Not only the magnitude but also the relative orientation of the transition dipole moment vectors is needed for few-state models of the non-linear ...
    • Generalized Hamming Weights for Almost Affine Codes

Johnsen, Trygve; Verdure, Hugues (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2017-01-17)
We define generalized Hamming weights for almost affine codes. We show that this definition is natural since we can extend some well known properties of t he generalized Hamming weights for linear codes, to almost affine codes. In addition we discus s duality of almost affine codes, and of the smaller class of multilinear codes.
    • Generalized Teleparallel de Sitter geometries

Coley, Alan; Landry, Alexandre; van den Hoogen, Robert; McNutt, David Duncan (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-10-30)
Theories of gravity based on teleparallel geometries are characterized by the torsion, which is a function of the coframe, derivatives of the coframe, and a zero curvature and metric compatible spin-connection. The appropriate notion of a symmetry in a teleparallel geometry is that of an affine symmetry. Due to the importance of the de Sitter geometry and Einstein spaces within General Relativity, ...
    • Generating customer's credit behavior with deep generative models

Andrade Mancisidor, Rogelio; Kampffmeyer, Michael; Aas, Kjersti; Jenssen, Robert (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-03-17)
Banks collect data x1 in loan applications to decide whether to grant credit and accepted applications generate new data x2 throughout the loan period. Hence, banks have two measurement-modalities, which provide a complete picture about customers. If we can generate x2 conditioned on x1 keeping the relationship between these two modalities, credit and ...
    • Generating polytopes from Coxeter groups

Viken, Veronica (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2019-05-31)
The main goal of this thesis is to study finite reflection groups (Coxeter groups) W and to use these to generate polytopes in two and three dimensions. Such polytopes will be generated as the convex hull of the W-orbit through an initial point. We prove an efficient recipe for finding the stabilizer of an initial point, and examine several examples of such polytopes and illustrate how many vertices, ...

    • Generation of the lower-thermospheric vertical wind estimated with the EISCAT KST radar at high latitudes during periods of moderate geomagnetic disturbance

Brekke, Asgeir; Oyama, S; Watkins, B. J.; Maeda, S.; Shinagawa, H.; Nozawa, S.; Ogawa, Y.; Lathuillere, C.; Kofman, W. (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2008-06-11)
Lower-thermospheric winds at high latitudes during moderately-disturbed geomagnetic conditions were studied using data obtained with the European Incoherent Scatter (EISCAT) Kiruna-Sodankylä-Tromsø (KST) ultrahigh frequency (UHF) radar system on 9–10 September 2004. The antenna-beam configuration was newly designed to minimize the estimated measurement error of the vertical neutralwind speed in the ...
    • A Generic Undo Support for State-Based CRDTs

Yu, Weihai; Elvinger, Victorien; Ignat, Claudia-Lavinia (Chapter; Bokkapittel, 2020-02-11)
CRDTs (Conflict-free Replicated Data Types) have properties desirable for large-scale distributed systems with variable network latency or transient partitions. With CRDT, data are always available for local updates and data states converge when the replicas have incorporated the same updates. Undo is useful for correcting human mistakes and for restoring system-wide invariant violated due to long ...
    • Generisk beredskap - adekvat for å håndtere den neste store krisen? En casestudie av beredskap for hendelser med lav sannsynlighet-høy konsekvens i en kommune

Foss, Kristian (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2019-05-31)

Simonsen, Sondre Stenvold (Mastergradsoppgave; Master thesis, 2021-06-15)
The Precambrian Alta-Kvænangen Tectonic Window (AKTW) located in the northern part of Norway, hosts different types of copper mineralization. Some of Cu occurrences have been previously mined, but their geochemical and stable isotope characteristics have not been a subject of detailed investigations, and therefore the relevant ore-forming processes are still poorly understood. This study, brings new ...
    • Geochemical evidence for seabed fluid flow linked to the subsea permafrost outer border in the South Kara Sea

Semenov, Petr; Portnov, Aleksei D; Krylov, Alexey; Egorov, Alexander V; Vanshtein, Boris (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2019-04-16)
Driven by rising bottom water temperatures, the thawing of subsea permafrost leads to an increase in fluid flow intensity in shallow marine sediments and results in the emission of methane into the water column. Limiting the release of permafrost-related gas hydrates and permafrost- sequestered methane into the global carbon cycle are of primary importance to the prevention of future Arctic Ocean ...
