    • Topological Singularities in Periodic Media: Ginzburg–Landau and Core-Radius Approaches

Alicandro, Roberto; Braides, Andrea; Cicalese, Marco; De Luca, Lucia; Piatnitski, Andrey (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2021-12-20)
We describe the emergence of topological singularities in periodic media within the Ginzburg–Landau model and the core-radius approach. The energy functionals of both models are denoted by Eε,δ, where ε represent the coherence length (in the Ginzburg–Landau model) or the core-radius size (in the core-radius approach) and δ denotes the periodicity scale. We carry out the -convergence analysis ...
    • Toward Interactive Music Generation: A Position Paper

Dadman, Shayan; Bremdal, Bernt Arild; Bang, Børre; Dalmo, Rune (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-11-30)
Music generation using deep learning has received considerable attention in recent years. Researchers have developed various generative models capable of imitating musical conventions, comprehending the musical corpora, and generating new samples based on the learning outcome. Although the samples generated by these models are persuasive, they often lack musical structure and creativity. For instance, ...
    • Two-scale convergence in thin domains with locally periodic rapidly oscillating boundary

Pettersson, Irina (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2017)
The aim of this paper is to adapt the notion of two-scale convergence in Lp to the case of a measure converging to a singular one. We present a specific case when a thin cylinder with locally periodic rapidly oscillating boundary shrinks to a segment, and the corresponding measure charging the cylinder converges to a one-dimensional Lebegues measure of an interval. Themethod is then applied to the ...

Blahota, Istvan; Persson, Lars Erik; Tephnadze, G (Journal article; Peer reviewed; Tidsskriftartikkel, 2017-03-13)
In this paper, we derive two-sided estimates of the Lebesgue constants for bounded Vilenkin systems, we also present some applications of importance, e.g., we obtain a characterization for the boundedness of a subsequence of partial sums with respect to Vilenkin–Fourier series of H 1 martingales in terms of n's variation. The conditions given in this paper are in a sense necessary and sufficient.

Training data was created by collecting measurements from ambient sensors measuring room CO2, humidity, temperature, light, motion and sound, while the ground-truth counts was created ...
    • Using Light Weight Electric Vehicles for V2G services in the Arctic

Dadman, Shayan; Bremdal, Bernt Arild (Chapter; Bokkapittel, 2023-06)
The proposed paper documents research carried out in the Smart Charge project. This project has investigated the use of electric snowmobiles for V2G purposes. Electric snowmobiles and ATVs have been introduced in remote areas in the Arctic to replace the fossil fuelled vehicles that dominate today. Electric versions of these can add extra loads to the local electricity grid. But they can also be ...
    • Utilizing Local Flexibility Resources to Mitigate Grid Challenges at Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Ilieva, Iliana; Bremdal, Bernt Arild (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2021-06-12)
Charging of electric vehicles (EVs) on a large scale can cause problems for the grid. Utilizing local flexibility resources, such as smart charging, stationary battery, vehicle-to-grid applications, and local generation can be an efficient way to contain the grid challenges and mitigate the need for grid reinforcement. Focusing on the INSPIRIA charging station located in Norway, this paper investigates ...
    • Vilenkin–Lebesgue Points and Almost Everywhere Convergence for Some Classical Summability Methods

Nadirashvili, Nato; Persson, Lars-Erik; Tephnadze, George; Weisz, Ferenc (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-09-17)
The concept of Vilenkin–Lebesgue points was introduced in [12], where the almost everywhere convergence of Fejer means of Vilenkin–Fourier series was proved. In this paper, we present a different (and simpler) approach to prove a similar result, which can be used to prove that the corresponding result holds also in a more general context, namely for regular Norlund and T-means.
    • Wavelet neural networks versus wavelet-based naural networks

Dechevski / Dechevsky, Lubomir Todorov; Tangrand, Kristoffer Meyer (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023)
This is the first paper in a sequence of studies including also [#!llhm2022!#] and [#!llhm2022_1!#] in which we introduce a new type of neural networks (NNs) – wavelet-based neural networks (WBNNs) – and study their properties and potential for applications. We begin this study with a comparison to the currently existing type of wavelet neural networks (WNNs) and show that WBNNs vastly outperform ...
    • Weighted Boundedness of Certain Sublinear Operators in Generalized Morrey Spaces on Quasi-Metric Measure Spaces Under the Growth Condition

Samko, Natasha Gabatsuyevna (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-03-17)
We prove weighted boundedness of Calderón–Zygmund and maximal singular operators in generalized Morrey spaces on quasi-metric measure spaces, in general non-homogeneous, only under the growth condition on the measure, for a certain class of weights. Weights and characteristic of the spaces are independent of each other. Weighted boundedness of the maximal operator is also proved in the case when ...

Samko, Natasha Gabatsuyevna (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2021-11-22)
We study commutators of weighted fractional Hardy-type operators within the frameworks of local generalized Morrey spaces over quasi-metric measure spaces for a certain class of “radial” weights. Quasi-metric measure spaces may include, in particular, sets of fractional dimentsions. We prove theorems on the boundedness of commutators with CMO coefficients of these operators. Given a domain ...
