    • Chrysochromulina leadbeateri - Understanding the Presumed Causal Agent Behind the Harmful Algal Bloom of 2019

Grann-Meyer, Erlend (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2020-08-18)
In the Spring of 2019, a harmful algal bloom (HAB) of Chrysochromulina leadbeateri decimated 14 500 tonnes of caged salmon in the Northern Norwegian coastal regions. C. leadbeateri is a natural part of the marine microbiome along the Norwegian coast, and similar events have happened in the past. To heighten our understanding of how these HABs develops, and capacity of the causal agent as a harmful ...
    • Predicting the Auroral Oval Boundaries by Means of Polar Operational Environmental Satellite Particle Precipitation Data

Breedveld, Mikkel Jelle (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2020-06-29)
New empirical Kp-based models for the equatorward and poleward boundaries of the auroral oval in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres were developed, with the purpose of reviewing the auroral ovals predicted by well-established Feldstein auroral oval model. The new models were derived from particle and energy flux measurements from six low-altitude (800-900 km) POES/MetOp satellites. The equatorward ...

Nielsen, Frida Eilertsen (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2020-06-15)
§ 185 vil stå sentralt i denne fremstillingen.

Rydningen, Emilie (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2020-06-09)
    • A catch comparison study on different codend designs to evaluate bycatch reduction in the North-East Atlantic deep-water shrimp (Pandalus borealis) fishery

Pettersen, Hermann Magnus Hagen (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2020-05-15)
Currently, there is a growing interest in the North-East Atlantic deep-water shrimp (Pandalus borealis) fishery with more actors expected to take part in the coming years. As the species and size of targeted shrimp varies globally, selectivity in this fishery is based on a grid system in front of a small mesh sized codend to avoid bycatch while simultaneously maintaining shrimp catches. However, ...
    • The Role of Silicate in the Parasitism of Pleurosigma sp. Diatoms by the Thraustochytrid Phycophthorum isakeiti

Powers, Daniel Jerome Finley (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2020-05-15)
The recently described thraustochytrid diatom parasite Phycophthorum isakeiti has been isolated from the marine system of northern Norway (Hassett, 2020). Protist P. isakeiti’s ecological role, biodiscovery potential, and interactions with a possible diatom host, Pleurosigma sp. remain largely unexplored. Here I present culturing experiments to test whether P. isakeiti is an obligate parasite. To ...

Kjølstad, Eskil Mossige; Svartaas, Ole Kristian Helstad (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2020-05-15)

    • Fast and slow components of interstadial warming in the North Atlantic during the last glacial

Margari, Vasiliki; Skinner, Luke C.; Menviel, Laurie; Capron, Emilie; Rhodes, Rachael H; Mleneck-Vautravers, Maryline J.; Ezat, Mohamed; Martrat, Belen; Grimalt, Joan O.; Hodell, David A; Tzedakis, Polychronis (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-08-13)
The abrupt nature of warming events recorded in Greenland ice-cores during the last glacial has generated much debate over their underlying mechanisms. Here, we present joint marine and terrestrial analyses from the Portuguese Margin, showing a succession of cold stadials and warm interstadials over the interval 35–57 ka. Heinrich stadials 4 and 5 contain considerable structure, with a short ...

    • Detecting EV Charging From Hourly Smart Meter Data

Barkost, Per Harald (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2020-05-15)
Detecting electrical vehicle (EV) charging from smart meter data (EV detection) is a highly relevant problem for the distribution system operators (DSOs), especially with the expected growth of EVs worldwide. There are several reasons why DSOs may want to detect EV charging. In the present day, the main motivation is to reduce the total load on the grid in high demand periods. This can be achieved ...

Daouli, Maria (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2018-11-15)
Gjennom pliktsystemet ...
    • REE+Y uptake and diagenesis in Recent sedimentary apatites

Lumiste, Kaarel; Mänd, Kaarel; Bailey, Juke; Paiste, Päärn; Lang, Liisa; Lepland, Aivo; Kirsimäe, Kalle (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2019-07-30)
Rare Earth Elements and Yttrium (REE+Y) distribution in authigenic phases are frequently used as proxies for reconstructing past seawater conditions. Sedimentary apatite precipitates near the sediment-water interface and is therefore capable of recording the REE+Y composition of the overlying water column. While the overprinting of primary REE+Y signal during late stage diagenesis is a widely known ...
    • Palaeoproterozoic oxygenated oceans following the Lomagundi–Jatuli Event

Mänd, Kaarel; Lalonde, Stefan V.; Robbins, Leslie J.; Thoby, Marie; Paiste, Kärt; Kreitsmann, Timmu; Paiste, Päärn; Reinhard, Christopher T.; Romashkin, Alexandr E.; Planavsky, Noah J.; Kirsimäe, Kalle; Lepland, Aivo; Konhauser, Kurt O. (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-03-16)
The approximately 2,220–2,060 million years old Lomagundi–Jatuli Event was the longest positive carbon isotope excursion in Earth history and is traditionally interpreted to reflect an increased organic carbon burial and a transient rise in atmospheric O2. However, it is widely held that O2 levels collapsed for more than a billion years after this. Here we show that black shales ...
    • Spatial and temporal distributions in the Norwegian cod fishery
