Abstract
This poster introduces the Austin Principles of Data Citation in Linguistics to the wider Research Data Alliance community. The Austin Principles are a set of guidelines that enable linguists to make informed decisions regarding the accessibility and transparency of their research data. The Austin Principles are based on the FORCE11 Joint Declaration of Data Citation Principles. The FORCE11 Joint Declaration is intentionally broad so to be as inclusive of data from as many scientific disciplines as possible. The Austin Principles interpret the FORCE11 document to address linguistic data specifically. Some subfields of linguistics may already have specific guidelines for data citation; in these cases the Austin Principles can supplement extant guidelines to ensure that data citation conforms with current best practices. The principles and supporting website aim to meet the needs of researchers and students who work with linguistic data, as well as data managers, editors and publishers, interested in complying with current trends and requirements regarding research data management.
