Measured glomerular filtration rate (mGFR) measurement is necessary in specific patients and/or
specific clinical contexts.1–3 Plasma clearances are the
preferred methods, as they are less costly and
cumbersome than urinary clearances.4 The contrast
medium iohexol is the most commonly used worldwide, partly for pragmatic reasons, as this marker is
stable, not radioactive, and its measurement is easy,
with the possibility of an external quality control.1,4,
