Interactive rendering technologies like maps, timelines, and plots can be powerful tools for data visualization and exploration. In the context of media, such tools are often referred to as lean-forward, implying that the user is actively telling his own story by using control primitives such as skip, pan, tilt, adjust, scroll, rewind, reorder, zoom, play and more. We are interested in using such lean-forward technologies in the context of broadcasted lean-back experiences, for instance as a secondary for a radio program or a TV show. Importantly, the idea is not to record these experiences as video, as this removes all flexibility and interactivity. Instead, the idea is to let media providers actively remote-control client-side, interactive technologies, as part of production. To this end, we present State Trajectory, a technical concept for shared control state, with built-in support of online sharing, dynamic state changes, and timeline-consistent playback.

Condition Monitoring System for Internal Blowout Prevention (IBOP) in Top Drive Assembly System using Discrete Event Systems and Deep Learning Approaches
Noori, Nadia Saad; Waag, Tor Inge; Bianchi, Filippo Maria (Conference object; Konferansebidrag, 2020-07-19)<p>Offshore oil drilling is a complex process that requires careful coordination of hardware and control systems. Fault monitoring systems play an important role in such systems for safe and profitable operations. Thus, predictive maintenance and monitoring operating conditions of drilling systems are critical to the overall production cycle. In this paper, we are addressing the topic of condition ... -
Reducing the number of individuals to monitor shoaling fish systems – Application of the Shannon entropy to construct a biological warning system model
Eguiraun, Harkaitz; Casquero, Oskar; Sørensen, Asgeir Johan; Martinez, Iciar (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2018-05-08)The present study aims at identifying the lowest number of fish (European seabass) that could be used for monitoring and/or experimental purposes in small-scale fish facilities by quantifying the effect that the number of individuals has on the Shannon entropy (SE) of the trajectory followed by the shoal’s centroid. Two different experiments were performed: (i) one starting with 50 fish and decreasing ... -
Autonomous weapon systems that decide whom to kill. How international humanitarian law and international human rights law regulate the development and use of offensive autonomous weapon systems during international armed conflicts
Mortensen, Erika Steinholt (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2016-05-03)The thesis examines the following questions: 1) How autonomous weapon systems (AWS) should be defined and whether there are any legal restraints on the technology, hereunder the notion “meaningful human control.” 2) How international human rights law (IHRL) may apply during an international armed conflict (IAC). 3) Whether IHRL may apply extraterritorially through the use of AWS, with a special ...
