Uptake of chemicals from tire wear particles into aquatic organisms - search for biomarkers of exposure in blue mussels
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2025-06-20)Little is known about the exposure of aquatic biota to tire and road wear particles (TRWP) washed away from roads. Mussels were exposed for 7 days to model TRWP (m-TRWP), produced by milling tire tread particles with pure sand, and analyzed for 21 tire-related compounds by liquid chromatography-high resolution-mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS). Upon exposure to 0.5 g/L of m-TRWP, 15 compounds were determined ... -

A Systems Perspective on the Drivers of Adoption of the Norwegian School Fruit Scheme
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2025-06-20)Successful adoption of evidence-based primary prevention interventions by schools is important for public health but relies on multiple factors. Using a systems perspective enables the identification of the interconnectivity and feedback loops among these factors, which can facilitate or hinder adoption. This study aimed to conceptualize a system structure showing how adoption factors are interrelated, ... -

Denne ... -
Combinatorial Effects of Free and Nanoencapsulated Forms of Cabazitaxel and RAS-Selective Lethal 3 in Breast Cancer Cells
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2025-05-17)Background: Combination therapies for cancer have gained considerable attention due to their potential for enhancing therapeutic efficacy and decreasing drug resistance. Introducing nanodrug delivery systems in this context may further improve the therapy due to targeted delivery, improved drug stability, sustained drug release, and prevention of rapid clearance from circulation. This study evaluates ... -
Olympism and Cross-Cultural Differences in The Youth Olympic Games The Case of Singapore and Norway
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2025-05-26)This study examines the influence of Olympism in a cross-cultural context within the Youth Olympic Games educational program. A mixed methods approach was used to analyse both quantitative data (surveys; n = 173) and qualitative data (semi-structured interviews; n = 30) from former Singaporean and Norwegian Youth Olympic Games athletes. The cross-cultural aspect of the current investigation was ... -
Ultrasound and enzymatic processing of Palmaria palmata – effects on biochemical components
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2025-04-22)Palmaria palmata is gaining commercial interest in the northern hemisphere as a source of nutrients and bioactive compounds. However, the complex cell wall limits digestibility and extraction efficiency. This study investigated the use of ultrasound (US) and enzyme-assisted extraction (EAE), individually and in combination, to enhance the extraction of valuable components from P. palmata and to ... -
A qualitative study of the IPS employment specialist role in the context of Nav employment in Norway
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2025-05-23)Background - Employment is recognised as a fundamental human right. Building trustworthy AI: Transparent AI systems via language models, ontologies, and logical reasoning (TranspNet)
(Chapter; Bokkapittel, 2025-05-16)Growing concerns over the lack of transparency in AI, particularly in high-stakes fields like healthcare and finance, drive the need for explainable and trustworthy systems. While Large Language Models (LLMs) perform exceptionally well in generating accurate outputs, their “black box” nature poses significant challenges to transparency and trust. To address this, the paper proposes the TranspNet ... -
Symbolic-AI-fusion deep learning (SAIF-DL): Encoding knowledge into training with answer set programming loss penalties by a novel loss function approach
(Chapter; Bokkapittel, 2025-05-16)This paper presents a hybrid methodology that enhances the training process of deep learning (DL) models by embedding domain expert knowledge using ontologies and answer set programming (ASP). By integrating these symbolic AI methods, we encode domain-specific constraints, rules, and logical reasoning directly into the model’s learning process, thereby improving both performance and trustworthiness. ... -
Roadmap to sustainably develop the European seaweed industry
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2025-05-13)How to build a sustainable seaweed industry is important in Europe’s quest to produce 8 million tons of seaweed by 2030. Based on interviews with industry representatives and an expert-workshop, we developed an interdisciplinary roadmap that addresses sustainable development holistically. We argue that sustainable practices must leverage synergies with existing industries (e.g. IMTA systems, offshore ... -
Microplastic pellets in Arctic marine sediments: a common source or a common process?
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2025-05-05)Plastic consumption is increasing, and millions of tonnes of plastic are released into the oceans every year. Plastic materials are accumulating in the marine environment, especially on the seafloor. The Arctic is contaminated with plastics, including microplastics (MPs, <5 mm) but occurrences, concentrations and fate are largely unknown. This study aimed at assessing whether MPs accumulate at greater ... -
Skogens helsetilstand i Norge.
