dc.description.abstract | The market for on-the-move satellite communication is increasing, and phased array antennas have characteristics that makes them suited for this. In this thesis design and tuning of a wide-band microstrip patch antenna element for a Ku-band antenna array is presented. The SSFIP structure with a resonating aperture is used for the antenna element, and double resonance allows for operation at both uplink and downlink frequencies. The antenna element is simulated with a metal plane reflector, and a patch reflector. A qualitative design and tuning procedure for wide/dual-band microstrip patch antennas is provided. Simulations are carried out with the electromagnetic 3D analyser AXIEM from NI AWR, and the results from the simulations are presented. | en_US |
