Zonal Wave Number Diagnosis of Rossby Wave-Like Oscillations Using Paired Ground-Based Radars
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-05-03)Free traveling Rossby wave normal modes (RNMs) are often investigated through large-scale space-time spectral analyses, which therefore is subject to observational availability, especially in the mesosphere. Ground-based mesospheric observations were broadly used to identify RNMs mostly according to the periods of RNMs without resolving their horizontal scales. The current study diagnoses zonal ... -
A Holistic View of Health Infrastructure Resilience before and after COVID-19
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-04)Background: Large-scale events such as COVID-19 show that there are situations that can lead to huge stress on health infrastructure systems (HIS). The pandemic reveals that it is very difficult to protect HIS from all kinds of possible hazards. They can be unpredictable and spread rapidly; hence, it is hard to find an effective mitigation strategy to completely protect society and its important ... -
A Neolithic Corridor between East and West.
(Chapter; Bokkapittel, 2022)The discovery of an amber bead and an unusual type of slate knife at a site near Tromsø, Norway instigated reflection upon inter-regional mobility and possible travel routes in northern Fennoscandia. In combination with finds near Kilpisjärvi, Finland, these early Neolithic objects found far from their main distribution area allow us to suggest that the Torne River and its connected waterways provided ... -
Personal and socioeconomic factors affecting perceived knowledge of farmed fish
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-04-18)The global decline in wild fish has given impetus to the rapid growth of seafood produced by aquaculture, as well as of farmed fish (FF). Although product knowledge is directly linked to fish consumption, continuous asymmetric information leads to consumer ambiguity and confusion regarding their knowledge of farmed fish. However, ambiguity tolerance (AT) and confusion avoidance (CA) as personal ... -
Preliminary geochemical analysis of asbestos minerals from geological and archaeological contexts in Finnmark, north Norway Evaluating the potential for sourcing tempers in asbestos ceramics
(Chapter; Bokkapittel, 2022)This is a preliminary study of the potential for sourcing asbestos minerals used as temper in ceramics from Early Metal Age sites in Finnmark, northern Norway. Energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS/EDX) is used to analyze samples from geological sources and archaeological sites. Although tempers were highly portable, the results of the analysis mostly indicate local procurement, however non-local ... -

Spare Part Management Considering Risk Factors
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-01-01)The spare parts provision is a complex process, which needs a precise model to analyze all factors with their possible effects on the required number of spare parts. The required number of spare parts for an item can be calculated based on its reliability performance. Various factors can influence the reliability characteristics of an item, including operational environment, maintenance policy, ... -
The Effect of Risk Factors on the Resilience of Industrial Equipmen
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-01-01)Recently, to evaluate the response of systems against disruptive events, the application of the resilience concept has been increased. Resilience depicts the system’s ability to return to its normal operational status after the disruption. Various studies in the field of engineering and non-engineering systems have only considered systems’ performance indicators to estimate resilience. Therefore, ... -
Availability Importance Measure for Various Operation Condition
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-01-01)The concept of availability importance measures can be used to identifying critical components from the availability performance point of view. The availability of an item depends on the combined aspects of its reliability and maintainability performance indices. These indices are considerably affected by operational and environmental conditions such as; ambient temperature, precipitation, wind, ... -
Industrial Equipment’s Throughput Capacity Analysis
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-01-01)Throughput capacity (TC) is defined as the total amount of material processed or produced by the system in the given time. In practice, full capacity performance for industrial equipment is impossible because the failures are affected and cause a reduction. Therefore, failure interruptions, especially critical ones (bottlenecks), must be detected and considered in production management. From the ... -
Automated mapping of glacial overdeepenings beneath contemporary ice sheets: Approaches and potential applications
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2015-01-17)Awareness is growing on the significance of overdeepenings in ice sheet systems. However, a complete understanding of overdeepening formation is lacking, meaning observations of overdeepening location and morphometry are urgently required to motivate process understanding. Subject to the development of appropriate mapping approaches, high resolution subglacial topography data sets covering the whole ... -
A note on the best constants in some hardy inequalities
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2015)Abstract. The sharp constants in Hardy type inequalities are known only in a few cases. Authenticity – an important property for artistic documents?
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2016-01)The notion of authenticity seems to have grown more and more important for artistic documents during the last decades. Critics are using the term as a kind of distinction; an authentic novel or film is a good novel or film. Authenticity in these cases does not mean questioning the novel or film as an original work of art; rather, what is meant by authenticity is the relationship between reality and ... -
Libraries and the Establishment of a Sámi Political Sphere
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2018-12)The first Sámi newspaper, Sagai Muitalæggje, was established in 1903, and in 1906 the first Sámi was elected to the Norwegian parliament. Through these two events, the Sámi (the indigenous population of Norway) had their own voice heard and achieved political influence in the public sphere for the first time. What was the role and significance of libraries in this process? Anders Larsen, the editor ... -
