Skogens helsetilstand i Norge.

Contemporary Sámi Art in the Making of Sámi Art History: The Work of Geir Tore Holm, Outi Pieski and Lena Stenberg
(Chapter; Bokkapittel, 2017)This essay is an attempt to answer the following questions: How do contemporary artists like Geir Tore Holm, Outi Pieski and Lena Stenberg contribute to Sámi art history? And does their work have a reflexive effect on this history? I was initially asked to address these topics as part of the public defence of my doctoral dissertation entitled Samisk kunst i norsk kunsthistorie: Historiografiske riss ... -
‘Will God condemn me because I love boxing?’ - Narratives of young female immigrant Muslim boxers in Norway
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-08-30)This article examines the religious and gendered identities of female immigrant Muslim boxers. We aim to investigate the power relations, dominant ideologies and prejudices that are underpinning the life stories of these women boxers, as well as the moments of joy, freedom and transformation that their sport participation may include. The data are derived from life story interviews with two young ... -
Distinct patterns of soluble leukocyte activation markers are associated with etiology and outcomes in precapillary pulmonary hypertension
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-10-29)Activation of inflammatory processes has been identified as a major driver of pulmonary vascular remodeling that contributes to the development of precapillary pulmonary hypertension (PH). We hypothesized that circulating markers of leukocyte activation, reflecting monocytes/macrophages (sCD163, sCD14), T-cells (sCD25) and neutrophils (myeloperoxidase [MPO], neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin ... -
Catch pattern and size selectivity for a gear designed to prevent fish injuries during the capture process in a North-East Atlantic demersal trawl fishery
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-11-04)In the North-East Atlantic demersal trawl fishery targeting cod and haddock, the interest on fishing gear designs that preserve fish quality and welfare has grown. However, the gear configurations tested so far imply practical challenges, therefore, more user-friendly designs are still sought by the industry. For a new design to be considered, it needs to have size selective properties that are at ... -

Risky positioning–social aspirations and risk-taking behaviour in avalanche terrain
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-10-09)We test if positionality, i.e., the desire to gain social status, is associated with an increased willingness to take risk among backcountry riders. If positional preferences drive risk-taking behaviour in avalanche terrain, this is especially problematic because the stakes are high and can be fatal. Our analysis is based on data for hypothetical choices from an online survey (N = 648) in North ... -
A brain and a head for a different habitat: Size variation in four morphs of Arctic charr (Salvelinus alpinus (L.)) in a deep oligotrophic lake
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-09-25)Adaptive radiation is the diversification of species to different ecological niches and has repeatedly occurred in different salmonid fish of postglacial lakes. In Lake Tinnsjøen, one of the largest and deepest lakes in Norway, the salmonid fish, Arctic charr (<i>Salvelinus alpinus</i> (L.)), has likely radiated within 9,700 years after deglaciation into ecologically and genetically segregated ... -

(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-10-07)The Greenland shark (<i>Somniosus microcephalus</i>, Squaliformes: Somniosidae) is a long-lived Arctic top predator, which in combination with the high historical and modern fishing pressures, has made it subject to increased scientific focus in recent years. Key aspects of reproduction are not well known as exemplified by sparse and contradictory information e.g. on birth size and number of pups ... -
Spatiotemporal modulation of flavonoid metabolism in blueberries
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-05-13)Blueberries are distinguished by their purple-blue fruit color, which develops during ripening and is derived from a characteristic composition of flavonoid-derived anthocyanin pigments. The production of anthocyanins is confined to fruit skin, leaving the colorless fruit flesh devoid of these compounds. By linking accumulation patterns of phenolic metabolites with gene transcription in Northern ... -

Preliminary screening of the metabolites from this strain resulted in the ... -
Arctic (Svalbard islands) active and exported diatom stocks and cell health status
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-01-03)Diatoms tend to dominate the Arctic spring phytoplankton bloom, a key event in the ecosystem including a rapid decline in surface-water <i>p</i>CO2. While a mass sedimentation event of diatoms at the bloom terminus is commonly observed, there are few reports on the status of diatoms' health during Arctic blooms and its possible role on sedimentary fluxes. Thus, we examine the idea that ...
