Charged dust in the D-region incoherent scatter spectrum
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2021-09-14)We investigate the influence of charged dust on the incoherent scatter from the D-region ionosphere. Incoherent scatter is observed with high-power, large aperture radars and results from electromagnetic waves scattering at electrons that are coupled to other charged components through plasma oscillations. The influence of charged dust can hence be considered an effect of dusty plasma. The D-region ... -
Multitemporal Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 Images for Characterization and Discrimination of Young Forest Stands Under Regeneration in Norway
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2021-04-15)There is a need for mapping of forest areas with young stands under regeneration in Norway, as a basis for conducting tending, or precommercial thinning (PCT), whenever necessary. The main objective of this article is to show the potential of multitemporal Sentinel-1 (S-1) and Sentinel-2 (S-2) data for characterization and detection of forest stands under regeneration. We identify the most powerful ... -
Genetic Aspects of Dental Erosive Wear and Dental Caries
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2021-07-13)Objectives. &e present review aims to give an overview of the literature focusing on novel genetic aspects of dental erosion and dental caries. Once the tooth erupts into the oral cavity, the regenerative capability of enamel is fundamentally limited due to the loss of dental epithelium during eruption. &e susceptibility or resistance to dental erosion and caries is presumably a result of environmental, ... -
Critical representation of neoliberal capitalism and uneven development in Tsitsi Dangarembga’s This Mournable Body
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2021-08-11)This article focuses on Tsitsi Dangarembga’s novel This Mournable Body (2018), which completes her trilogy on Tambudzai Sigauke’s life story in relation to the neoliberal political order in contemporary Zimbabwe. Linguistic consequences of toing and froing: Factors that modulate narrative development in bilingual returnee children
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2021-04-13)This longitudinal study examined the development of narrative micro- and macrostructure in Japanese-English bilingual returnee children. Returnees are children of immigrant families who move to a foreign country, spending a significant portion of their formative developmental years in the foreign majority language context before returning to their native language environment. The returnees did ... -
Criteria for Assessing and Recommending Digital Diabetes Tools: A Delphi Study
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2021)Diabetes self-management, an integral part of diabetes care, can be improved with the help of digital self-management tools such as apps, sensors, websites, and social media. The study objective was to reach a consensus on the criteria required to assess and recommend digital diabetes self-management tools targeting those with diabetes in Norway. Healthcare professionals working with diabetes care ... -
DYRK1A kinase inhibitors promote β-cell survival and insulin homeostasis
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2021-08-31)The rising prevalence of diabetes is threatening global health. It is known not only for the occurrence of severe complications but also for the SARS-Cov-2 pandemic, which shows that it exacerbates susceptibility to infections. Current therapies focus on artificially maintaining insulin homeostasis, and a durable cure has not yet been achieved. We demonstrate that our set of small molecule ... -

Experimental and simulated evaluations of airborne contaminant exposure in a room with a modified localized laminar airflow system
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2021-02-15)The traditional mixing ventilation is not an energy effective approach to remove indoor air pollutants, maintain breath zone air quality, and control the airborne transmission. This study investigated the potential of a localized laminar airflow ventilation system to alleviate human exposure to pollutants. Breathing thermal manikins with sitting posture and supine posture were used to simulate the ... -
Loss of statin treatment years during pregnancy and breastfeeding periods in women with familial hypercholesterolemia
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2021-09-03)Background and aims Women with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) are recommended to initiate statin treatment at the same age as men (from 8 to 10 years of age). However, statins are contraindicated when pregnancy is planned, during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The aim of the study was to determine the duration of pregnancy-related off-statin periods and breastfeeding in FH ... -
Variable responses of carbon and nitrogen contents in vegetation and soil to herbivory and warming in high-Arctic tundra
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2021-09-21)Chemical responses of tundra vegetation and tundra soil to environmental changes are likely to differ, with implications for ecosystem functioning, yet they are rarely compared. Here, we aimed at comparing sensitivity and magnitude of short-term carbon and nitrogen responses of three main tundra ecosystem compartments: vascular plants, mosses, and soil, to two environmental perturbations: herbivore ... -
Home care service employees' contribution to patient safety in clients with dementia who use dietary supplements: a Norwegian survey
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2021-09-15)Objective - To explore home care services (HCS) employees' professional experiences with the use of dietary supplements (DSs) in their clients with dementia.
Turbulence and Intermittency in the Winter Cusp Ionosphere Studied With the ICI Sounding Rockets
