Physical activity, weight gain, and risk of mortality in adults
(Doctoral thesis; Doktorgradsavhandling, 2023-05-11)<p><i>Why:</i> As low physical activity levels associate with ill health and mortality, continuous monitoring of physical activity levels is needed to inform policy. Identifying aetiology causes for the obesity epidemic is important to prevent population weight gain. However, there are still uncertainties on how physical activity and weight at population level associate over time, and how physical ... -
Distinct modes of meltwater drainage and landform development beneath the last Barents Sea ice sheet
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-04-18)The flow of glacial ice is impacted by basal meltwater drainage systems that fluctuate on a continuum from distributed, high-pressure environments to channelized, lower pressure networks. Understanding the long-term development of dominant drainage modes and impacts on ice flow and landform development is a crucial step in predicting palaeo and contemporary ice-mass response to changes in ... -
Characterization of vasskveite (water halibut) syndrome for automated detection
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-12-23)In recent years, cases of vasskveite (water halibut) syndrome in halibut have been increasing. At the moment, there exists no way to screen for the syndrome immediately after capture, which is problematic for both exporters and purchasers. In this article, we compared good quality halibut and halibut exhibiting the syndrome using a variety of techniques. Hyperspectral imaging was used to quantify ... -
Consumers’ values, attitudes and behaviours towards consuming seaweed food products: The effects of perceived naturalness, uniqueness, and behavioural control
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-12-27)Seaweed has great potential as a natural, healthy, and sustainable food. Seaweed as food is novel in Western countries; thus, few studies have focused on the factors influencing consumers’ behavioural tendencies towards seaweed food products. This study aimed to fill the gap by investigating the antecedents for consumers’ attitudes towards as well as their consumption of seaweed food products in a ... -
Effects of weathered polyethylene microplastic ingestion on sexual maturation, fecundity and egg quality in maturing broodstock Atlantic cod Gadus morhua
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-01-09)Microplastics (MPs) have become a global issue as they are omnipresent in the ocean. Fish ingesting MPs through feed could be affected in their physiological function, e.g., disrupted enzyme production and function, reduction of feeding and reproductive failure. This study assessed the effects of feed containing naturally weathered MPs from the Oslofjord (Norway) on the reproductive physiology of ... -
Rapid prototyping of 1xN multifocus gratings via additive direct laser writing
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-04-05)Multifocus gratings (MFGs) enable microscopes and other imaging systems to record entire Z-stacks of images in a single camera exposure. The exact grating shape depends on microscope parameters like wavelength and magnification and defines the multiplexing onto a grid of MxN Z-slices. To facilitate the swift production and alteration of MFGs for a system and application at hand, we have developed ... -
From entities to interaction. Replacing pots and people with networks of transmission
(Chapter; Bokkapittel, 2012)The understanding of the relationship between language, ethnic groups, and material culture in prehistory is still very limited, even within highly competent academic communities. To researchers without archaeological training it may be easy to make a direct association between archaeological cultures, distribution of signifi cant artefact types, and ethnic groups, especially as such explicit links ... -
Interaction Within and Between Collectives: Networking in Northern Fennoscandia
(Chapter; Bokkapittel, 2012)The project Early Networking in Northern Fennoscandia is concerned with investigating interaction at the regional and interregional levels. Through a number of separate case studies we look into the substance of the interaction, evaluate its extent and diversity, background and organization, and its wider effects. In my case study I approach interregional interaction by looking at networks and ... -
Introduction

Multimodality and Memory in the Mise en page of Guillaume de Machaut's Mass
(Chapter; Bokkapittel, 2019-07-04)<p>Guillaume de Machaut’s mass survives in only five manuscripts, which all form part of the surprisingly homogeneous ‘complete works’ set of Machaut manuscripts. In this contribution, I argue that the details of <i>mise en page</i> in these manuscripts are reflective both of scribal memorial processes and multimodality in action: in this work where one of the major modes (image) is absent, the ... -
Games and Realism
(Chapter; Bokkapittel, 2022-11-11)This entry offers an overview over applications of the the concept of realism in game studies. After a general description of the term, I move on to an aesthetic notion of realism before I direct attention to its use in videogames research. I show that realism in game studies is about more than photorealist representation of surface phenomena and that it also needs to account for players’ perceptions. -
Spatiotemporal distribution and co-occurrence of Arctic herbivores in spring
(Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2022-04-19)Biotic interactions play an important role in the structure and dynamics of food-webs and may drive the spatial distribution of species. In the Arctic, spring snow-cover limits the availability of resources at a critical time for resident and migratory herbivores, which could lead to resource competition. This study takes a first step towards understanding the potential for competition between the ... -
Medvirkning i boligsosialt arbeid.

The Sámi Museum in Karasjok: A Story of Resistance
(Chapter; Bokkapittel, 2022-08-15)In Karasjok, on the Norwegian side of Sápmi, there is a cultural-historical museum, Sámiid Vuorká-Dávvirat (SVD) (The Sámi Museum), and an art collection comprising 1,400 works of art. The museum building was completed in 1972. Different ideas for an art museum in connection to the SVD building have existed since the 1980s, but for various reasons no plans for an art museum have so far come to ... -

Is capture-based aquaculture viable? The case of Atlantic cod in Norway
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-03-25)Capture-based aquaculture (CBA) is an important branch of the aquaculture industry that differs from closed cycle farming in that the stocking material consists of captured wild fish or other aquatic organisms. By skipping the difficult early production stages of fish farming, producers can test whether assumed market advantages such as high quality and consistent supply result in higher prices – ... -
Decree 546 and Female Imprisonment in Colombia: Considering the Impact of Empty Policy on Institutional Trust
(Mastergradsoppgave; Master thesis, 2022-11-26)What happens to institutional trust when fundamental human rights are not respected by the laws meant to protect them? The social and political environment spurred by the Covid 19 pandemic proved difficult for policymakers and the public alike, but perhaps those with the least agency fared the worst, prisoners. This thesis theorizes the concept of loss of institutional trust as a consequence ...
