Climate warming is predicted to enhance the negative effects of harvesting on high‐latitude lake fish
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2019-12-11)1. Ecosystems at high latitudes are exposed to some of the highest rates of climate warming on earth, and freshwater ecosystems in those regions are already experiencing extended ice‐free seasons and warmer waters. The dominant fish species in these ecosystems are cold‐water salmonids, which play a central ecological role in lake ecosystems, where they are often exposed to size‐selective fisheries ... -

Changing fish distributions challenge the effective management of European fisheries.
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-01-23)Changes in fish distribution are being observed across the globe. In Europe's Common Fisheries Policy, the share of the catch of each fish stock is split among management areas using a fixed allocation key known as ‘Relative Stability’: in each management area, member states get the same proportion of the total catch each year. That proportion is largely based on catches made by those member states ... -

Multi-scale modeling of drug binding kinetics to predict drug efficacy
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2019-11-25)Optimizing drug therapies for any disease requires a solid understanding of pharmacokinetics (the drug concentration at a given time point in different body compartments) and pharmacodynamics (the effect a drug has at a given concentration). Mathematical models are frequently used to infer drug concentrations over time based on infrequent sampling and/or in inaccessible body compartments. Models are ... -
Soil protist diversity in the Swiss western Alps is better predicted by topo-climatic than by edaphic variables
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2019-11-01)<i>Aim</i> - Trends in spatial patterns of diversity in macroscopic organisms can be well predicted from correlative models, using topo‐climatic variables for plants and animals allowing inference over large scales. By contrast, diversity in soil microorganisms is generally considered as mostly driven by edaphic variables and, therefore, difficult to extrapolate on a large spatial scale based on ... -
A highly asymmetric gold(III) η3‐allyl complex
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2019-11-11)A highly asymmetric AuIII η3‐allyl complex has been generated by treating Au(η1‐allyl)Br(tpy) (tpy=2‐(<i>p</i>‐tolyl)pyridine) with AgNTf2. The resulting η3‐allyl complex has been characterized by NMR spectroscopy and X‐ray crystallography. DFT calculations and variable temperature 1H NMR suggest that the allyl ligand is highly fluxional.
