Effect of donor–acceptor orientation on solvent-dependent three-photon activity in through-space charge-transfer systems – case study of [2,2]-paracyclophane derivatives
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2013)We study the effect of donor–acceptor orientation on solvent-dependent three-photon transition probabilities (δ3PA) of representative through-space charge-transfer (TSCT) systems, namely, doubly positively charged [2,2]-paracyclophane derivatives. Our cubic response calculations reveal that the value of δ3PA may be as high as 106 a.u., which can further be increased by a specific orientation of the ... -
A really close look at molecules
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel, 2013)With a “magnifying glass”, a highly sophisticated atomic force microscope (AFM) scientists have recently developed a technique that allows single molecule visualization with atomic resolution. -
The quantitative level of T315I mutated BCR-ABL predicts for major molecular response to second-line nilotinib or dasatinib treatment in patients with chronic myeloid leukemia
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2013-05)The BCR-ABL T315I mutation causes resistance to imatinib, nilotinib and dasatinib in chronic myeloid leukemia. Forty BCR-ABL positive patients with imatinib resistance were analyzed for T315I mutated clones after six months on nilotinib or dasatinib treatment by quantitative allele-specific ligation polymerase chain reaction with a sensitivity of 0.05%. Ligation polymerase chain reaction revealed ... -
Palladium(0)-Catalyzed Cross-Couplings of 2-Bromophosphinine
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2013-05-21)A new Negishi-type cross-coupling of 2-bromophosphinine has been developed. The new method expands the scope of palladium-catalyzed couplings to monobromophosphinines, which have been considered as poor substrates so far. Moreover, aryl-, alkenyl-, and alkynylzinc bromides were found to be effective coupling partners. -
Presence of acyl-homoserine lactones in 57 members of the Vibrionaceae family
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2013-05-31)Aims: The aim of this study was to use a sensitive method to screen and quantify 57 Vibrionaceae strains for the production of acyl-homoserine lactones (AHLs) and map the resulting AHL profiles onto a host phylogeny.

Methods and Results: We used a high-performance liquid chromatography– tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) protocol to measure AHLs in spent media after bacterial growth. ... -
Evaluating the Predictivity of Virtual Screening for Abl Kinase Inhibitors to Hinder Drug Resistance
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2013-06-08)Virtual screening methods are now widely used in early stages of drug discovery, aiming to rank potential inhibitors. However, any practical ligand set (of active or inactive compounds) chosen for deriving new virtual screening approaches cannot fully represent all relevant chemical space for potential new compounds. In this study, we have taken a retrospective approach to evaluate virtual screening ... -

A high-throughput, restriction-free cloning and screening strategy based on ccdB-gene replacement
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2014)Background In high-throughput demanding fields, such as biotechnology and structural biology, molecular cloning is an essential tool in obtaining high yields of recombinant protein. Here, we address recently developed restriction-free methods in cloning, and present a more cost-efficient protocol that has been optimized to improve both cloning and clone screening. Results In our case study, ... -
Parameter-Free Extended Edit Distance
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2014)The edit distance is the most famous distance to compute the similarity between two strings of characters. The main drawback of the edit distance is that it is based on local procedures which reflect only a local view of similarity. To remedy this problem we presented in a previous work the extended edit distance, which adds a global view of similarity between two strings. However, the extended edit ... -
