dc.description.abstract | Prolonged 'cold' exposure poses numerous challenges for industrial operations, human survival, and living convenience. The impact of the cold cannot be quantified just based on temperatures; however, other factors such as wind speed, humidity, and irradiance have to be considered. Therefore, efforts have been made to develop combined indices, such as wind chill temperature (WCT), AccuWeather RealFeel® temperature, universal thermal climate index (UTCI), and others. The given presentation discusses these indices and industrial standards that emphasize the quantification and implementation of risk assessment in cold regions. The presentation introduces the concept behind the novel Windtech device and briefly discusses its operating principle involving 'heated' temperature, which is affected by environmental parameters, including ambient temperature, humidity, wind speed, and irradiance. Furthermore, the device working principle is simulated in MATLAB®, where the physical properties of air are taken from CoolProp libraries. The results validate the concept of the Windtech device and set the basis of calibration. | en_US |
