The day-ahead wind power forecast is essential for the designation of dispatch schedules for the grid and rational arrangement for production planning by power generation companies. This paper specifically investigates the effect of adding noise to the original wind data for forecasting models. Linear regression, artificial neural networks, and adaptive boosting predictive models based on ...

Descamps, Sebastien; Ramírez, Francisco; Benjaminsen, Sigurd; Anker-Nilssen, Tycho; Barrett, Robert; Burr, Zofia; Christensen-Dalsgaard, Signe; Erikstad, Kjell E; Irons, David B.; Lorentsen, Svein Håkon; Mallory, Mark L; Robertson, Gregory J.; Reiertsen, Tone Kristin; Strøm, Hallvard; Varpe, Øystein; Lavergne, Sébastien (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2019-07-31)
The timing of annual events such as reproduction is a critical component of how free‐living organisms respond to ongoing climate change. This may be especially true in the Arctic, which is disproportionally impacted by climate warming. Here, we show that Arctic seabirds responded to climate change by moving the start of their reproduction earlier, coincident with an advancing onset of spring and ...
    • Refugees and minorities: some conceptual and normative issues

Lippert-Rasmussen, Kasper; Lægaard, Sune (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-03-29)
In many contexts, states have a duty to take special measures to protect minorities. Does this duty include prioritizing minority over majority refugees? To answer this question, we first show that a vulnerabilityfocused notion of ‘minorities’ is preferable to a numerical one. Given the vulnerability-focused notion, there is a presumption in favour of prioritizing minority over majority refugees. ...
    • Translating a quality management system in Mine Action. A case study of the implementation of a quality management system in the Mine Action Department in Norwegian Peoples Aid

Brand, Sten (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2021-12-01)

What was the result and why. The case is done inductive by testing the Kjell Arne Røvik’s pragmatic institutionalism and his theory of the virtues of the good ...
    • Kjennetegn ved den relasjonsorienterte lederen. En studie om hvordan relasjonsledelse kommer til uttrykk blant ansatte, og hvordan det påvirker dem

Czajkowski, Patrik (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2021-11-30)

Hilmersen, Halvor (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2021-11-01)

Ragazzi, Rossella; Nerici, Giacomo (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-01-28)
This article focuses on the set up, reception, and social scientific discursive fields that have informed two exhibitions about Sami culture curated over time by Tromsø University Museum. They were curated in two different periods in the recent history of the Sami (end of 1990s and 2013-15). In our anthropologically-informed analysis we take a second look at the way in which researchers and curators ...

We analyse and self-reflect on an action research project conducted in a financial organisation twelve years ago. The research question was: What are the challenges of initiating an action research project in a financial organisation with top-down control that uses the Balanced Scorecard? The data came from action learning seminars with line managers, observations, interviews, and meetings in a ...
    • Evaluating the Predictivity of Virtual Screening for Abl Kinase Inhibitors to Hinder Drug Resistance

Gani, Osman A.B.S.M.; Narayanan, Dilip; Engh, Richard Alan (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2013-06-08)
Virtual screening methods are now widely used in early stages of drug discovery, aiming to rank potential inhibitors. However, any practical ligand set (of active or inactive compounds) chosen for deriving new virtual screening approaches cannot fully represent all relevant chemical space for potential new compounds. In this study, we have taken a retrospective approach to evaluate virtual screening ...

    • Temporal correlations among demographic parameters are ubiquitous but highly variable across species

Fay, Rémi; Hamel, Sandra; Van de Pol, Martijn; Gaillard, Jean Michel; Yoccoz, Nigel; Acker, Paul; Authier, Matthieu; Larue, Benjamin; Le Coeur, Christie; Macdonald, Kaitlin R.; Nicol-Harper, Alex; Barbraud, Christophe; Bonenfant, Christophe; Van Vuren, Dirk H.; Cam, Emmanuelle; Delord, Karine; Gamelon, Marlène; Moiron, Maria; Pelletier, Fanie; Teplitsky, Céline; Visser, Marcel E.; Wells, Caitlin P.; Wheelwright, Nathaniel T.; Jenouvrier, Stéphanie; Sæther, Bernt-Erik (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-05-24)
Temporal correlations among demographic parameters can strongly influence population dynamics. Our empirical knowledge, however, is very limited regarding the direction and the magnitude of these correlations and how they vary among demographic parameters and species’ life histories. Here, we use long-term demographic data from 15 bird and mammal species with contrasting pace of life to quantify ...

People with intellectual disabilities have more sedentary lifestyles than the general population. Regular physical activity is of both medical and social importance, reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease and promoting functioning in everyday life. Exergames have been envisioned for promoting physical activity; however, most of them are not user-friendly for individuals with intellectual ...
    • Characteristics and failure mechanisms of the unstable rock slope Dusnjárga

Bekkevoll, Simen (Mastergradsoppgave; Master thesis, 2022-05-15)
Large slowly creeping rock slope deformations, with an annual displacement in the range of millimeters to centimeters, have been prone to rapid catastrophic failures in the past. This master thesis focuses on the unstable rock slope of Dusnjárga in Northern Norway. A sudden rapid failure of Dusnjárga would pose a threat to the local society in Lille Altafjord and Burfjord, due to potential secondary ...
