This paper describes the significant direct and indirect contributions to science made by the Norwegian polar explorer Roald Amundsen in the period 1897–1924. It documents that his expeditions through the North-west Passage (1903–06) with Gjøa, to the South Pole (1910–12) with Fram and through the North-east Passage (1918–1920) and the Chukchi and East Siberian seas (1921–25) with Maud yielded vast amounts of published scientific material on meteorology, terrestrial magnetism, geology, palaeontology, oceanography, ethnography, zoology and botany, which, though celebrated at the time, have since received scant recognition in more recent assessments of Amundsen's achievements.

Iceberg Drift-Trajectory Modelling and Probability Distributions of the Predictions
Baadshaug, Ole (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2018-06-29)Moving icebergs represent a major problem for shipping, as well as for oil and gas installations in ice infested waters. To be able to take actions against hazardous icebergs, it is necessary to develop models for prediction of iceberg drift trajectories. Many models have been developed in order to do so, using different approaches. These approaches can be divided into two main categories, dynamic ... -
Implementing an electronic health record in a Nigerian secondary healthcare facility. Prospects and challenges
Attah, Ambrose Ojadale (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2017-11-02)Nigeria is witnessing continuing advocacy and increase in number of individuals yearning for computerization of health information and healthcare processes. However, little is known about the opinions of the diverse healthcare providers who would ensure the successful implementation and meaningful use of health information technology in the country (Adeleke, Erinle et al. 2015). This study explores ... -
Statistical Analysis of Medical Shapes and Directional Data
Schulz, Jörn (Doctoral thesis; Doktorgradsavhandling, 2013-12-18)The use of statistical shape analysis in medical settings has increased during the last decades. This thesis presents contributions to three major topics of statistical shape analysis with application to medical problems. These topics are: the modeling of the shape by a geometrical model, the study of rotational shape deformations and the comparison of shapes between populations. Paper I presents ...
