Conditional expression of retrovirally delivered anti-MYCN shRNA as an in vitro model system to study neuronal differentiation in MYCN-amplified neuroblastoma
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2011)Background: Neuroblastoma is a childhood cancer derived from immature cells of the sympathetic nervous system. The disease is clinically heterogeneous, ranging from neuronal differentiated benign ganglioneuromas to aggressive metastatic tumours with poor prognosis. Amplification of the MYCN oncogene is a well established poor prognostic factor found in up to 40% of high risk neuroblastomas. Using ... -
Risk factors for type 2 diabetes in groups stratified according to metabolic syndrome : a 10-year follow-up of The Tromsø Study
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2010)Many incident cases of type 2 diabetes do not fulfill the metabolic syndrome, which accordingly has been questioned both as a research and clinical tool. The aim of this study was to determine differences in risk factors for type 2 diabetes between groups with high or low metabolic score. The study population were 26,093 men and women attending the Tromsø Study in 1994, followed through 2005, and ... -
Can video mobile phones improve CPR quality when used for dispatcher assistance during simulated cardiac arrest?
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2009)Background: Because mobile telephones may support video calls, emergency medical dispatchers may now connect visually with bystanders during pre-hospital cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). We studied the quality of simulated dispatcher-assisted CPR when guidance was delivered to rescuers by video calls or audio calls from mobile phones. Methods: One hundred and eighty high school students were ... -
Integrating psychoeducation in a basic computer skills course for people suffering from social anxiety: participants' experiences
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2011)We describe a psychoeducational program integrated in a basic computer skills course for participants suffering from social anxiety. The two main aims of the course were: that the participants learn basic computer skills, and that the participants learn to cope better with social anxiety. Computer skills were taught by a qualified teacher. Psychoeducation and cognitive therapy skills, including ... -
MYCN-regulated miRNAs Inhibit Secretion of the Tumor Suppressor DICKKOPF-3 (DKK3) in Neuroblastoma
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2011)The MYCN oncogene is frequently amplified in neuroblastoma. It is one of the most consistent markers of a bad prognosis for this disease. Dickkopf-3 (DKK3) is a secreted protein of the Dickkopf family of Wnt regulators. It functions as a tumor suppressor in a range of cancers, including neuroblastoma. MYCN was recently found to downregulate DKK3 mRNA. In this study, we show that MYCN knockdown in ... -
Activity-related pain in patients with chronic musculoskeletal disorders
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2010)Purpose. Activity related pain may be a barrier to rehabilitation in patients with chronic musculoskeletal disorders. The trauma team is responsible for initial hospital treatment of traumatized patients, and team members have previously reported that non-technical skills as communication, leadership and cooperation are the ... -
CHEK2 Mutations Affecting Kinase Activity Together With Mutations in TP53 Indicate a Functional Pathway Associated with Resistance to Epirubicin in Primary Breast Cancer
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2008-08-26)Background Chemoresistance is the main obstacle to cure in most malignant diseases. Anthracyclines are among the main drugs used for breast cancer therapy and in many other malignant conditions. Single parameter analysis or global gene expression profiles have failed to identify mechanisms causing in vivo resistance to anthracyclines. While we previously found TP53 mutations in the L2/L3 domains to ... -
