• Los dobles participios en español: Estudio de corpus

Svensen, Kristina (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2013-05-14)
Some verbs in Spanish present in their non-finite verb form of past participles the possibility of possessing both a regular and an irregular form: 'Freído'/'frito'(fried), 'imprimido'/'impreso' (printed), etc. It is well known that the past participle may function both as a verb and as an adjective, and this universality makes it particularly interesting to observe how these doublets of participles ...
• Surviving the end: A study of encounters with post-apocalyptic evil and survival strategies in Matheson's I am Legend, McCarthy's The Road, and Kirkman's The Walking Dead: Compendium One

Bø, Kristian (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2013-05-15)
In this thesis the aim is to explore the dichotomy/duality of man in three post-apocalyptic texts and discuss how and why survivors react to the post-apocalyptic setting. Since a majority of post-apocalyptic fictional texts focus on the destruction of the world set to contemporary issues, this thesis will explore how the post-apocalyptic setting will force survivors into making difficult survival ...

• Usage-based vs. Rule-based Learning: The Acquisition of Word Order in Wh-Questions in English and Norwegian

Westergaard, Marit (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2009)
This paper discusses different approaches to language acquisition in relation to children’s acquisition of word order in wh-questions in English and Norwegian. While generative models assert that children set major word order parameters and thus acquire a rule of subject-auxiliary inversion or generalized verb second (V2) at an early stage, some constructivist work argues that English-speaking ...
• Reindrift på Kola i vestlige media

Scheller, Elisabeth; Konstantinov, Yulian; Vladimirova, Vladislava (Chronicle; Kronikk, 2013)
Forvrengning av virkeligheten for reindriften på Kola er et hinder for å løse interne problem og inviterer til å flytte ansvaret over på ytre krefter.

This article investigates public architecture in Sápmi from the 1970s until today, with particular emphasis on building materials and their discourse. Although the materials chosen for clothing or for revealed construction follow Nordic and inter¬national architectonic trends, the wood, stone, concrete and glass are ascribed a set of meanings to fit the Sami context. The question is to what degree ...
• A guide to IL and SL in Spanish: Properties, problems and proposals

Fabregas, Antonio (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2012)
This article provides with a state of the art of how the Individual Level / Stage Level distinction –and the related but distinct issue of the distribution of ser / estar– is instantiated in Spanish. We argue that the IL / SL distinction can be understood in two different ways: as a contrast between properties predicated of an individual or of a stage of that individual, and as a contrast between ...
• Ay pues yo, trabajando en el gerundio

Moreno, Arlanda (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2012)

Fábregas, Antonio (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2012)

• Some notes on temporal adverbials in Old Russian: the case of lěto ‘year’ in Suzdal’skaja letopis’

Nesset, Tore (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel, 2012)
This article offers a small analysis of temporal adverbials with ‘year' in Suzdal'skaja letopis'. These data in comparison with data from Ipat'evskaja letopis' indicate that въ + locative (the construction that prevails with ‘year' in Contemporary Standard Russian) was marginal in Old Russian, whereas three other constructions (въ + accusative, bare genitive and bare locative) competed for dominance.

This paper discusses if place names can be used to construct and express identity, with a focus on the Norwegian names of farms and parishes. Since the Norwegian Place Name Act came into existence in 1991, the many appeals in regard to official spellings as decided by the authorities give clear indication that Norwegians have different opinions of how the names of farms and parishes should be spelled ...
