Some Higher Order Hardy Inequalities
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2012-03-26)We investigate the k-th order Hardy inequality (1.1) for functions satisfying rather general boundary conditions (1.2), show which of these conditions are admissible and derive sufficient, and necessary and sufficient, conditions (for 0 < q < ∞, p > 1) on u, v for (1.1) to hold. -
One-year protocol biopsies from ABO-incompatible renal allografts compared with a matched cohort of ABO-compatible allografts
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2015-01-21)Abstract: Introduction: Early acute antibody-mediated rejection (ABMR) occurs more frequently in ABO-incompatible (ABOi) than in ABO-compatible (ABOc) kidney transplantation. This could lead to increased inflammation/scarring in the ABOi grafts. Protocol biopsy data in ABOi kidney recipients are scarce.

Methods: A single-center retrospective matched cohort study was conducted. Eighty ... -
Revisiting geomagnetic activity at auroral latitudes: No need for regular quiet curve removal for geomagnetic activity indices based on hourly data
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2016-06-24)The main objective of our study is to determine if the regular quiet daily curve (QDC) subtraction is a necessary procedure in quantifying the irregular geomagnetic variations at auroral latitudes. We define the hourly ΔH index, the absolute hour-to-hour deviation in nT of the hourly geomagnetic horizontal component, which assigns each sample to sample deviation as geomagnetic activity without ... -
Dissecting the shared genetic basis of migraine and mental disorders using novel statistical tools
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2021-07-17)Migraine is three times more prevalent in people with bipolar disorder or depression. The relationship between schizophrenia and migraine is less certain although glutamatergic and serotonergic neurotransmission are implicated in both. A shared genetic basis to migraine and mental disorders has been suggested but previous studies have reported weak or non-significant genetic correlations and five ... -
Reference curves for pediatric endocrinology: leveraging biomarker z-scores for clinical classifications
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-03-17)Context: Hormone reference intervals in pediatric endocrinology are traditionally partitioned by age and lack the framework for benchmarking individual blood test results as normalized z-scores and plotting sequential measurements onto a chart. Reference curve modeling is applicable to endocrine variables and represents a standardized method to account for variation with gender and age.

Objective: ... -
Traumatic brain injury and the risk of dementia diagnosis: A nationwide cohort study
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2018-01-30)Background

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) has been associated with dementia. The questions of whether the risk of dementia decreases over time after TBI, whether it is similar for different TBI types, and whether it is influenced by familial aggregation are not well studied.
Methods and findings
The cohort considered for inclusion comprised all individuals in Sweden aged 50 years ... -
WIND-PVPA: Water/Ion NMR Detected PVPA to assess lipid barrier integrity in vitro through quantification of passive water- and ion transport
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-03-22)Water/Ion NMR Detected – Phospholipid Vesicle Permeability Assay (WIND-PVPA), is presented as a novel, straightforward and automatable method to assess lipid barrier integrity in vitro. The apparent permeability constants of water- and ions across the PVPA barriers are determined in a one-pot experiment under the influence of membrane-active guest molecules. NMR spectroscopy is used to quantify ... -
Binding Specificity of ASHH2 CW Domain Toward H3K4me1 Ligand Is Coupled to Its Structural Stability Through Its α1-Helix
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-04-13)The CW domain binds to histone tail modifications found in different protein families involved in epigenetic regulation and chromatin remodeling. CW domains recognize the methylation state of the fourth lysine on histone 3 and could, therefore, be viewed as a reader of epigenetic information. The specificity toward different methylation states such as me1, me2, or me3 depends on the particular ... -
Cutoff Latitudes of Solar Proton Events Measured by GPS Satellites
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-03-15)Solar energetic particles (SEPs), one of the main causes of particle radiation in interplanetary space, can disrupt radio communication, induce spacecraft failures and change the heating and cooling rates in the atmosphere among others. To investigate the impact of SEPs and more specifically solar proton events (SPEs), we established a cutoff latitude database based on energetic particle data from ... -
Evaluation of a Simple Clinical Language Paradigm With Respect to Sensory Independency, Functional Asymmetry, and Effective Connectivity
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-03-03)The present study replicates a known visual language paradigm, and extends it to a paradigm that is independent from the sensory modality of the stimuli and, hence, could be administered either visually or aurally, such that both patients with limited sight or hearing could be examined. The stimuli were simple sentences, but required the subject not only to understand the content of the sentence but ... -
Seventy-two hours of mild hypothermia after cardiac arrest is associated with a lowered inflammatory response during rewarming in a prospective observational study
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2014-10-11)Introduction: Whole-body ischemia and reperfusion trigger a systemic inflammatory response. In this study, we analyzed the effect of temperature on the inflammatory response in patients treated with prolonged mild hypothermia after cardiac arrest.

Methods: Ten comatose patients with return of spontaneous circulation after pulseless electrical activity/asystole or prolonged ventricular ... -

The Effect of Own Body Concerns on Judgments of Other Women’s Body Size
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-05-06)We investigated the relationships between healthy women’s estimates of their own body size, their body dissatisfaction, and how they subjectively judge the transition from normal to overweight in other women’s bodies (the “normal/overweight” boundary). We propose two complementary hypotheses. In the first, participants compare other women to an internalized Western “thin ideal,” whose size reflects ... -
