Two-sided estimates of the Lebesgue constants with respect to Vilenkin systems and applications
(Journal article; Peer reviewed; Tidsskriftartikkel, 2017-03-13)In this paper, we derive two-sided estimates of the Lebesgue constants for bounded Vilenkin systems, we also present some applications of importance, e.g., we obtain a characterization for the boundedness of a subsequence of partial sums with respect to Vilenkin–Fourier series of H 1 martingales in terms of n's variation. The conditions given in this paper are in a sense necessary and sufficient. -
Mental health among Sami people with intellectual disabilities
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2019-01-21)The first living condition-survey among people with intellectual disability in Sami areas in Norway was conducted in 2017. The purpose of this article is to present and discuss results from the living-condition study, with a focus on the results related to mental health and bullying as a risk factor for poor mental health among people with intellectual disability and a Sami background. We have ... -
Maternal-Child Exposures to Persistent Organic Pollutants in Dhaka, Bangladesh
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2018-07-27)Information about the human burdens of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in low- and middle-income countries is limited. In particular, studies often include only a small subset of POPs. To address this data gap, we aimed to assess maternal-child exposures to POPs in Dhaka, Bangladesh. We quantified 16 organochlorine pesticides, 12 polychlorinated biphenyls, 21 brominated flame retardants, 18 ... -
Seasonal ecology in ice-covered Arctic seas - Considerations for spill response decision making
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2018-09-05)Due to retreating sea ice and predictions of undiscovered oil and gas resources, increased activity in Arctic shelf sea areas associated with shipping and oil and gas exploration is expected. Such activities may accidentally lead to oil spills in partly ice-covered ocean areas, which raises issues related to oil spill response. Net Environmental Benefit Analysis (NEBA) is the process that the response ... -
Psoroma spinuliferum (Pannariaceae), a new corticolous lichen species from Alaska with two different types of cephalodia
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2018-04-30)The species Psoroma spinuliferum is described here as new to science. It is only known from the holotype on a Picea sitchensis trunk near a sea-shore in southern, coastal Alaska. The species is distinct in having short, brittle, spinule-like hairs on both apothecium margins, thalline squamules and on pulvinate to coarsely coralloid cephalodia with emerald-colored Nostoc photobionts. ... -
How Corruption Affects Vulnerability to Radicalization into Violent Extremism: Examining the Case of Kosovo’s Foreign Fighters
(Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2018-10-31)This thesis seeks to examine how corruption affects the vulnerability to radicalization into violent extremism by examining the process of radicalization, what makes individuals vulnerable to this process, and how these vulnerabilities are affected by corruption. The assumptions made are further examined through the case of Kosovo. Findings made in this thesis suggest that while corruption is not ... -
Willkommenskultur in Berlin: A critical discourse analysis of national identity construction in Germany. How is the German public discourse about Willkommenskultur shaped by and a contribution to national identity construction?
(Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2018-11-05)Since the summer of 2015, the ambiguous term Willkommenskultur has been part of the increasingly polarized migration debate in Germany. This ambiguous term is used in a variety of different contexts – political, social, historical – and seems to be part of the process of national identity construction. In using Willkommenskultur several German authors contextualized the term within the historical ... -
Geological controls on fluid flow and gas hydrate pingo development on the Barents Sea margin
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2019-01-16)In 2014, the discovery of seafloor mounds leaking methane gas into the water column in the northwestern Barents Sea became the first to document the existence of non‐permafrost related gas hydrate pingos (GHP) on the Eurasian Arctic shelf. The discovered site is given attention because the gas hydrates occur close to the upper limit of the gas hydrate stability, thus may be vulnerable to climatic ... -

A similar species, Austroconops borkenti Szadziewski & Schlüter, 1992, from Upper Cretaceous, Cenomanian, French amber of Anjou, is redescribed and illustrated. A key to males and ... -
In-situ Measurements of Mesospheric Aerosols - On the observable characteristics of nanoscale ice and meteoric smoke particles
(Doctoral thesis; Doktorgradsavhandling, 2019-01-24)Two sounding rocket payloads were launched from Andøya Space Centre (69.29 N, 16.02 E) during the summer of 2016 within the MAXIDUSTY campaign. Their payloads contained instrumentation aimed at investigating the characteristics of nanoscale aerosols in the upper summer mesosphere, and the role of these particles in phenomena like noctilucent clouds and polar mesospheric summer echoes (PMSE). The ... -
The taxonomic status of two species of predaceous midges in the genera Bezzia and Palpomyia described by STÆGER (1839) in the genus Ceratopogon (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae: Palpomyiini)
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2018-12-28)Lectotypes are designated for the predaceous midges, Ceratopogon circumdatus Stæger, 1839, and <i<Ceratopogon binotatus Stæger, 1839 housed in the Copenhagen Zoological Museum, Denmark, and both species are redescribed and photographed. Ceratopogon circumdatus is removed from synonymy with Bezzia solstitialis (Winnertz, 1852) and recognized as a new synonym of Bezzia ... -
