• Bjørnejakt og samisk gravtradisjon.

Sommerseth, Ingrid (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel, 2020)
• Impediments to mathematical creativity: Fixation and flexibility in proof validation

Haavold, Per Øystein (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-05-15)
Mathematical techniques in proof writing can be narrowed down to specific proof styles. Simply put, proofs can be direct or indirect- the latter using the Law of the Excluded Middle from logic as well as the axiom of Choice, to prove existence of mathematical objects. However, the thinking skills involved in writing indirect proofs are prone to errors, especially from novice proof writers such as ...
• Systematics and distribution of spruce species in the North-West of Russia

Orlova, Larisa; Gusarova, Galina; Glazkova, Elena; Egorov, Alexander; Potokin, Alexander; Ivanov, Sergey (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020)
Norway spruce (Picea abies) and Siberian spruce (P. obovata) are among the most important forest-forming coniferous species in the boreal part of Eurasia. Despite numerous publications on the taxonomy of Norway spruce and closely related taxa (P. obovata Ledeb. and P. fennica (Regel) Kom.), the problem of their identification, as well as clarification of their taxonomic status, has not been solved ...

Fábregas, Antonio (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-12-18)
• What is the incoherence objection to legal entrapment?

Tanyi, Attila; McLeod, Stephen K; Hill, Daniel J. (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-05-27)
Some legal theorists say that legal entrapment to commit a crime is incoherent. So far, there is no satisfactorily precise statement of this objection in the literature: it is obscure even as to the type of incoherence that is purportedly involved. (Perhaps consequently, substantial assessment of the objection is also absent.) We aim to provide a new statement of the objection that is more precise ...
• Pluriversal stories with Indigenous wor(l)ds creating paths to the other side of the mountain

Guttorm, Hanna Ellen; Kantonen, Lea; Kramvig, Britt (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2019)
In this article we travel through theorizing towards what we think Indigenous knowledge does, and how it works and gets presented, by using the concept of the pluriverse. As three researchers concerned with Indigenous studies, we ask how we create and share stories that bring us together in communities and become possible to be shared in the inter-existence of multiple worlds. With locally embedded ...
• Extra-pair paternity in the boreal, socially monogamous Grey-headed Chickadee (Poecile cinctus)

Kleven, Oddmund; Rudolfsen, Geir; Schmoll, Tim (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2019)
Extra-pairmatingisacommonalternativereproductivestrategyamongsociallymonogamous bird species, but empirical data on the genetic mating systems of most species are still lacking. Here we present the first parentage study in the Grey-headed Chickadee (Poecile cinctus), a socially monogamous passerine breeding at low densities in the borealregionofthePalaearcticandNearctic.Inapopulationinnortheastern ...

Cabanillas Cardenas, Carlos Fernando (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2019)
• Cryoneurolysis for cervicogenic headache - A double blinded randomized controlled study

Kvarstein, Gunnvald; Högström, Henrik; Allen, Sara Maria; Rosland, Jan Henrik (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2019-09-13)
Background and aims - Cervicogenic headache (CEH) is a debilitating condition and analgesics have limited effect. Percutaneous cryoneurolysis is thus still in use although the clinical evidence is lacking. We present a randomized, controlled study to assess the clinical efficacy of cryoneurolysis compared with a corticosteroid combined with a local anaesthetic.

Methods - In a university-based ...

• Methods for enhanced learning using wearable technologies. A study of the maritime sector

Xue, Hui (Doctoral thesis; Doktorgradsavhandling, 2023-10-04)
Maritime safety is a critical concern due to the potential for serious consequences or accidents for the crew, passengers, environment, and assets resulting from navigation errors or unsafe acts. Traditional training methods face challenges in the rapidly evolving maritime industry, and innovative training methods are being explored. This study explores the use of wearable sensors with biosignal ...

• Dutch modality exclusivity norms for 336 properties and 411 concepts

Bernabeu, Pablo (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel, 2018)
Part of the toolkit of language researchers is formed of stimuli that have been rated on various dimensions. The current study presents modality exclusivity norms for 336 properties and 411 concepts in Dutch. Forty-two respondents rated the auditory, haptic, and visual strength of these words. Mean scores were then computed, yielding acceptable reliability values. Measures of modality exclusivity ...
• Postural Stability Variables for Dynamic Equilibrium

Dutt-Mazumder, Aviroop; Dhar, Sushmit; Dutt-Mazumder, Courtney (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2018)
Experiments on the maintenance of postural stability on flat stationary support surfaces (quiet standing) that show only limited modes of the potential configurations of balance stability have dominated investigations of balance in quiet upright standing. Recent studies have revealed coordination properties of the whole body in maintaining dynamic postural stability with the application of moving ...
• Frankenstein at 200: Introduction

Falke, Cassandra; Hanssen, Jessica Allen (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2018)
Derek Attridge says of James Joyce that one can never be a first-time reader of that authors work.1 The same can be said of Mary Shelley, particularly with regard to her first novel, Frankenstein: Or The Modern Prometheus. There cannot be many readers who come to it without prior ideas of what to expect. Images of the creature pervade popular culture, and most English readers know Victors tale of ...
• Pain tolerance after stroke: The Tromsø study

Melum, Tonje Anita; Årnes, Anders; Stigum, Hein; Stubhaug, Audun; Steingrímsdóttir, Ólöf Anna; Mathiesen, Ellisiv B.; Nielsen, Christopher Sivert (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel, 2023-05-11)
Background: Stroke lesions might alter pain processing and modulation by affecting the widely distributed network of brain regions involved. We aimed to compare pain tolerance in stroke survivors and stroke-free persons in the general population, with and without chronic pain.

Methods: We included all participants of the sixth and seventh wave of the population-based Tromsø Study who had ...
• Mind the gap – Relevant design for laboratory oil exposure of fish as informed by a numerical impact assessment model

Frøysa, Håvard Guldbrandsen; Nepstad, Raymond; Meier, Sonnich; Donald, Carey; Sørhus, Elin; Bockwoldt, Mathias; Carroll, JoLynn; Vikebø, Frode Bendiksen (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-09-09)
Laboratory experiments provide knowledge of species-specific effects thresholds that are used to parameterize impact assessment models of oil contamination on marine ecosystems. Such experiments typically place individuals of species and life stages in tanks with different contaminant concentrations. Exposure concentrations are usually fixed, and the individuals experience a shock treatment being ...
• Refusal – opening otherwise forms of research

Gross, Lena; Mashreghi, Sepandarmaz; Söderman, Emma (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-09-14)
An increasing interest towards researching other forms of knowledges is taking place, expanding the boundaries of knowledge to include forms that have been historically marginalised, negated, and neglected by the Western academy. Parallel to this, we have identified a rising critique of how voices marginalized by colonial modes of academic knowledge production are included, through a single-sided ...
• More refined typology and design in linguistic relativity: The case of motion event encoding

Bernabeu, Pablo; Tillman, Richard (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2019-04-11)
Linguistic relativity is the influence of language on other realms of cognition. For instance, the way movement is expressed in a person’s native language may influence how they perceive movement. Motion event encoding (MEE) is usually framed as a typological dichotomy. Path-in-verb languages tend to encode path information within the verb (e.g., ‘leave’), whereas manner-in-verb languages encode ...
