The 9+ screening test score does not predict injuries in elite floorball players
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-04-05)We aimed to examine whether the 9+ screening test score could predict injuries in elite floorball players. Eighty‐four elite floorball players participated in the study. At baseline, two physiotherapists assessed the participants using the 9+ screening test. The test score reflects strength, stability, mobility, and functional movement pattern with an emphasis on the lower body and core. Injuries ... -
Recommendations for initial examination, differential diagnosis, and management of concussion and other head injuries in high-level football
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-06-17)Head injuries can result in substantially different outcomes, ranging from no detectable effect to transient functional impairments to life‐threatening structural lesions. In high‐level international football (soccer) tournaments, on average, one head injury occurs in every third match. Making the diagnosis and determining the severity of a head injury immediately on‐pitch or off‐field is a major ... -

The necessity and possibilities of playfulness in narrative care with older adults
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-07-13)For us, narrative care is grounded in pragmatist philosophy and focused on experience. Narrative care is not merely about acknowledging or listening to people's experiences, but draws attention to practical consequences. We conceptualize care itself as an intrinsically narrative endeavour. In this article, we build on Lugones' understanding of playfulness, particularly to her call to remain attentive ... -

Study of ice accretion on wind turbine blade profiles using thermal infrared imaging
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-07-08)Atmospheric icing has been recognized as hindrance in proper utilization of good wind resources in cold regions. There is a growing need to better understand the ice accretion physics along wind turbine blades to improve its performance and for optimal design of anti/de-icing system. This article describes a study of ice accretion along wind turbine blade profiles using thermal infrared imaging. Surface ... -
The All Affected Principle, and the Weighting of Votes
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-08-18)In this article we defend the view that, on the All Affected Principle of voting rights, the weight of a person’s vote on a decision should be determined by and only by the degree to which that decision affects her interests, independently of her voting weights on other decisions. Further, we consider two recent alternative proposals for how the All Affected Principle should weight votes, and give ... -

Molecular Interactions Stabilizing the Promatrix Metalloprotease-9·Serglycin Heteromer
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-06-12)Previous studies have shown that THP-1 cells produced an SDS-stable and reduction-sensitive complex between proMMP-9 and a chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan (CSPG) core protein. The complex could be reconstituted in vitro using purified serglycin (SG) and proMMP-9 and contained no inter-disulfide bridges. It was suggested that the complex involved both the FnII module and HPX domain of proMMP-9. The ... -
Plan, recruit, retain: a framework for local healthcare organizations to achieve a stable remote rural workforce
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-09-03)Background - Recruiting and retaining a skilled health workforce is a common challenge for remote and rural communities worldwide, negatively impacting access to services, and in turn peoples’ health. The research literature highlights different factors facilitating or hindering recruitment and retention of healthcare workers to remote and rural areas; however, there are few practical tools ... -
Serum PTH is not a good marker for defining a threshold for vitamin D deficiency
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-04-01)Objective: In addition to its skeletal effects, vitamin D may also be important for health in general. It is uncertain what level of serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D), marker of vitamin D status, is sufficient for these effects. With decreasing serum 25(OH)D levels there is an increase in serum PTH. The point at which this occurs has been considered as a threshold for vitamin D sufficiency. ... -
Adam Smith om markedet og om selvet
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-08-19)Artikkelen fokuserer på hvilken rolle egeninteresse spiller i The Wealth of Nations av Adam Smith. -
Randomised comparison of provisional side branch stenting versus a two-stent strategy for treatment of true coronary bifurcation lesions involving a large side branch: the Nordic-Baltic Bifurcation Study IV
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-01-19)Background - It is still uncertain whether coronary bifurcations with lesions involving a large side branch (SB) should be treated by stenting the main vessel and provisional stenting of the SB (simple) or by routine two-stent techniques (complex). We aimed to compare clinical outcome after treatment of lesions in large bifurcations by simple or complex stent implantation.

Methods ... -

Afro-alpine flagships revisited: Parallel adaptation, intermountain admixture and shallow genetic structuring in the giant senecios (Dendrosenecio)
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-03-18)Distantly related lineages of the enigmatic giant rosette plants of tropical alpine environments provide classical examples of convergent adaptation. For the giant senecios (Dendrosenecio), the endemic landmarks of the East African sky islands, it has also been suggested that parallel adaptation has been important for within-lineage differentiation. To test this hypothesis and to address potential ... -
The effects of language and emotionality of stimuli on vocabulary learning
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-10-07)Learning new content and vocabulary in a foreign language can be particularly difficult. Yet, there are educational programs that require people to study in a language they are not native speakers of. For this reason, it is important to understand how these learning processes work and possibly differ from native language learning, as well as to develop strategies to ease this process. The current ... -
Variations in the Circle of Willis in a large population sample using 3D TOF angiography: The Tromsø Study
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-11-03)The main arteries that supply blood to the brain originate from the Circle of Willis (CoW). The CoW exhibits considerable anatomical variations which may have clinical importance, but the variability is insufficiently characterised in the general population. We assessed the anatomical variability of CoW variants in a community-dwelling sample (N = 1,864, 874 men, mean age = 65.4, range 40–87 years), ...
