Both these airfoils have different ... -
An investigation into empirical ice density formulations for dry ice growth on cylinders
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2019-10-17)This paper describes an investigation into the empirical accreted icing density formulations, namely the numerical fits by (Makkonen and Stallabrass, 1984) and (Jones, 1990). Typically, the icing severity is estimated by the masses of the accreted ice, however, for this study the focus is primarily on the accreted ice densities and thicknesses for the main purpose of estimating the ice loads, in ... -
Study of ice accretion and icing effects on aerodynamic characteristics of DU96 wind turbine blade profile
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2019-01-26)In order to optimize the large wind turbines operation in ice prone cold regions, it is important to better understand the ice accretion physics and its effects on aerodynamic performance and power production losses. This paper describes a case study of ice accretion on DU96-W-180 airfoil, which has been used for large wind turbine blades such as NREL 5 MW. Analysis has been carried out for glaze ... -
Lifestyle factors and colorectal cancer: The Norwegian Women and Cancer Study
(Doctoral thesis; Doktorgradsavhandling, 2020-03-27)Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a major global disease. The incidence rate among Norwegian women is currently the highest in the world. Lifestyle factors have a substantial influence on CRC susceptibility. However, it is not clear whether these factors are responsible for the high incidence in Norwegian women, or whether they play a role in CRC survival. This doctoral project investigated lifestyle factors ... -
Global test for high-dimensional mediation: Testing groups of potential mediators
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2019-05-09)We address the problem of testing whether a possibly high‐dimensional vector may act as a mediator between some exposure variable and the outcome of interest. We propose a global test for mediation, which combines a global test with the intersection‐union principle. We discuss theoretical properties of our approach and conduct simulation studies that demonstrate that it performs equally well or ... -

World Government, Social Contract and Legitimacy
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2019-05-22)The notion of world government is anathema to most political theorists. This is the case due to the arguments that a world government is infeasible, undesirable and unnecessary. This threefold argument is partly predicated on the assumption that in world politics the larger a geographical and political entity is, the greater the chance of it becoming unstable, ungovernable and, ultimately, illegitimate. ...
