On 14 October, new S. sonnei cases with the same MLVA-profile were reported ... -
Zinc deficiency is common in several psychiatric disorders
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2013)Background: Mounting evidence suggests a link between low zinc levels and depression. There is, however, little knowledge about zinc levels in older persons with other psychiatric diagnoses. Therefore, we explore the zinc status of elderly patients suffering from a wide range of psychiatric disorders. Methods: Clinical data and blood samples for zinc analyzes were collected from 100 psychogeriatric ... -
Combining Users’ Needs With Health Behavior Models in Designing an Internet- and Mobile-Based Intervention for Physical Activity in Cardiac Rehabilitation
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2014)Background: Internet-based physical activity interventions have great potential in supporting patients in cardiac rehabilitation. Health behavior change theories and user input are identified as important contributors in the effectiveness of the interventions, but they are rarely combined in a systematic way in the design of the interventions. Objective: The aim of this study is to identify the ... -
Diagnostic laboratory testing for Charcot Marie Tooth disease (CMT): the spectrum of gene defects in Norwegian patients with CMT and its implications for future genetic test strategies.

Antioxidant activity of selected natural medicine used in Nepal
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2013)Diminished antioxidant defence or increased production of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species in the biological system can result into oxidative stress which can cause damage to deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), proteins, lipids and as a result different disease states arise like cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, rheumatoid arthritis. Antioxidants from different plant resources can significantly delay ... -
Medium-Term Results After Treatment of Recalcitrant Lateral Epicondylitis A Prospective, Randomized Study Comparing Open Release and Radiofrequency Microtenotomy
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2013)Background: Recalcitrant lateral epicondylitis (elbow extensor–origin tendinosis) is a common cause of elbow pain with many treatment options. In the present study, the medium-term results after open release and radiofrequency microtenotomy are reported. Hypothesis: Microtenotomy would provide long-term pain relief that was as good as the open release method. Study Design: Prospective, randomized ... -
HPV mRNA testing is more specific than HPV DNA testing in triage of women with minor cervial lesions
(Conference object; Konferansebidrag, 2013)In Norway, repeat cytology and HPV testing is used in delayed triage of women with minor cytological lesions. Repeat cytology, HPV DNA testing (Roche Cobas 4800), and HPV mRNA testing (NorChip PreTect HPV-Proofer) were used to follow up 575 women aged 25–69 years with ASCUS / LSIL in primary screening. A total of 206 women (35.8%) were DNA+ and 107 (18.6%) were mRNA+. Repeated ASC-US / LSIL was found ... -

Susceptibility for Lupus Nephritis by low copy number of the FCGR3B gene is linked to increased levels of pathogenic autoantibodies
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2013)Low copy number (CN) of the FCGR3B gene reduces FCGR3B membrane expression on neutrophils and results in clearance of a smaller amount of immune complex. We investigated FCGR3B CN in relation to the clinical phenotype in a Caucasian SLE cohort (𝑛 = 107). FCGR3B CN was determined by three different qPCR parameter estimations (Ct−, Cy0, and cpD1) and confirmed by the FCGR2C/FCGR2A paralog ratio test. ... -
