Formålet med denne studien er å få innsikt i fellesskap, individualisme og dannelse blant skolebarn i idrettsfeltet, gjennom å studere idrettene svømming og fotball ut ifra et klasseperspektiv, og i hvilken grad de sosiale skillene overføres til skolefeltet. Studien tar utgangspunkt i sosiologen Pierre Bourdieu sin klasseteori, og benytter kvalitative data fra sju semistrukturerte intervju med trenere og lærere som empiri. Analysen får frem variasjoner i hvordan fellesskap, individualisme og dannelse blir synliggjort i idrettsfeltet gjennom idrettenes egenart- og klassetilhørighet, foreldreinvolvering og foreldres klassebevissthet, og hvordan disse variasjonene overføres til utdanningsfeltet. Studien forsøker å bidra til økt forståelse av sammenhengen mellom idretts- og utdanningsfeltet, og tilbyr økt kunnskap om trenere og lærere sin forståelse av barns idretts- og skoledeltakelse med fokus på fellesskap, individualisme og dannelse.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to gain insight into class distinctions in the fields of sports and education. The study examines class distinctions in community, individualism, and development in the sports of swimming and football, and the transfer of these dynamics to the education system. It is a qualitative study utilizing data from seven semi-structured interviews with coaches and teachers. Through the analysis of the empirical data, the study demonstrates variations in how community, individualism, and development are manifested in the sports field, and how these variations are transferred to the educational field. Based on my analysis, this could be attributed to the unique characteristics and class affiliations of the sports, parental involvement, and parental class consciousness. The study seeks to contribute to an increased understanding of the relationship between the fields of sports and education, offering insights into coaches' and teachers' understanding of children's participation in sports and school, with a focus on community, individualism, and development.
