Long-term studies of mesosphere and lower-thermosphere summer length definitions based on mean zonal wind features observed for more than one solar cycle at middle and high latitudes in the Northern Hemisphere
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-01-20)Specular meteor radars (SMRs) and partial reflection radars (PRRs) have been observing mesospheric winds for more than a solar cycle over Germany (∼ 54◦ N) and northern Norway (∼ 69◦ N). This work investigates the mesospheric mean zonal wind and the zonal mean geostrophic zonal wind from the Microwave Limb Sounder (MLS) over these two regions between 2004 and 2020. Our study focuses on the ... -
Some new results and inequalities for subsequences of Nörlund logarithmic means of Walsh–Fourier series
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-03-07)We prove that there exists a martingale f ∈ Hp such that the subsequence {L2n</sub f} of Nörlund logarithmic means with respect to the Walsh system are not bounded from the martingale Hardy spaces Hp to the space weak – Lp for 0 < p < 1. We also prove that for any f ∈ Lp, p ≥ 1, L2n f converge to f at any Lebesgue point x. Moreover, ... -

This study is a 654-day long rearing trial split into two sequential experimental phases termed EP1 and EP2 and lasting 315 and 339 days, respectively. EP1 started at the end of the yolk sac stage when the experimental fish were divided into three ... -
Treatment of Cardiovascular Dysfunction with PDE3-Inhibitors in Moderate and Severe Hypothermia—Effects on Cellular Elimination of Cyclic Adenosine Monophosphate and Cyclic Guanosine Monophosphate
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-07-13)<p><b>Introduction:</b> Rewarming from accidental hypothermia is often complicated by hypothermia-induced cardiovascular dysfunction, which could lead to shock. Current guidelines do not recommend any pharmacological treatment at core temperatures below 30°C, due to lack of knowledge. However, previous in vivo studies have shown promising results when using phosphodiesterase 3 (PDE3) inhibitors, ... -
Subglacial water drainage, storage, and piracy beneath the Greenland ice sheet
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2015-08-26)Meltwater drainage across the surface of the Greenland ice sheet (GrIS) is well constrained by measurements and modeling, yet despite its critical role, knowledge of its transit through the subglacial environment remains limited. Here we present a subglacial hydrological analysis of a land-terminating sector of the GrIS at unprecedented resolution that predicts the routing of surface-derived meltwater ... -

The evolution of methane vents that pierce the hydrate stability zone in the world's oceans
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2014-07-16)We present a one-dimensional model that couples the thermodynamics of hydrate solidification with multiphase flow to illuminate how gas vents pierce the hydrate stability zone in the world's oceans. During the propagation phase, a free-gas/hydrate reaction front propagates toward the seafloor, elevating salinity and temperature to three-phase (gas, liquid, and hydrate) equilibrium. After the reaction ... -
Platelet-depletion of whole blood reveals that platelets potentiate the release of IL-8 from leukocytes Into plasma in a thrombin-dependent manner
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-04-04)Objective: In a recent study, we found an elevated level of interleukin 8 (IL-8) in response to bacterial incubation in thrombin-sufficient human whole blood anticoagulated by the fibrin polymerization blocking peptide GPRP. Whether thrombin directly activated leukocytes or mediated the release via thrombin-dependent activation of platelets remains unresolved. Herein, we addressed the role of ... -
The development of the northern lights tourism network
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-01-18)Drawing on actor-network theory (ANT), we traces the translations and ordering processes underlying the fastgrowing northern lights tourism network in northern Norway. It also shows how the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, from March 2020, represented the most severe market shock. The results, following a multi-methods qualitative approach, unpack how this network emerged, accelerated and matured ... -
Deep demersal fish communities respond rapidly to warming in a frontal region between Arctic and Atlantic waters
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-02-23)The assessment of climate impact on marine communities dwelling deeper than the well-studied shelf seas has been hampered by the lack of long-term data. For a long time, the prevailing expectation has been that thermal stability in deep ocean layers will delay ecosystem responses to warming. Few observational studies have challenged this view and indicated that deep organisms can respond ... -
Physical performance and loading for six playing positions in elite female football: full-game, end-game, and peak periods
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2021-03-22)The present study investigated the position-specific match demands and heart rate response of female elite footballers, with special focus on the full-game, end-game, and peak-intensity periods. In total, 217 match observations were performed in 94 players from all eight teams of the best Danish Women's League, that is, goalkeepers (GK, n = 10), central defenders (CD, n = 23), full-backs ... -

Anxiolytic‐like Effects of the Positive GABAB Receptor Modulator GS39783 Correlate with Mice’s Individual Basal Anxiety and Stress Reactivity
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-02-16)Positive gamma-aminobutyric acid type B (GABAB) receptor modulators such as GS39783 have showed anxiolytic-like effects in several studies while such effects were absent in other studies. These conflicting findings led us hypothesize that the anxiolytic-like effects of such compounds depend on the individual basal anxiety and/or the anxiogenic properties of the used tests. The present study ... -
Artificial Intelligence for Colonoscopy: Past, Present, and Future

Inflammation in the early phase after kidney transplantation is associated with increased long-term all-cause mortality
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-03-30)In the general population, low-grade inflammation has been established as a risk factor for all-cause mortality. We hypothesized that an inflammatory milieu beyond the time of recovery from the surgical trauma could be associated with increased long-term mortality in kidney transplant recipients (KTRs). This cohort study included 1044 KTRs. Median follow-up time post-engraftment was 10.3 years. ... -
Kinetic Study of the Oxidative Addition Reaction between Methyl Iodide and [Rh(imino-β-diketonato)(CO)(PPh)3] Complexes, Utilizing UV–Vis, IR Spectrophotometry, NMR Spectroscopy and DFT Calculations
