Hall, Chris; Manson, A.H.; Meek, C.E.; Nozawa, S. (Journal article; Peer reviewed; Tidsskriftartikkel, 2006-11-23)
We have noted sporadic instances of strong isolated reflections of medium frequency (MF) radar waves from the mesosphere from as low as 50 km altitude and have devised a set of criteria for isolating these apparently anomalous echoes from those normally occurring from progressive partial reflections in the D-region. The object of this study is to map the occurrences of such echoes facilitating ...

    • Isotope effect on filament dynamics in fusion edge plasmas

Meyer, Ole; Kendl, Alexander (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2017-04-20)
The influence of the ion mass on filament propagation in the scrape-off layer of toroidal magnetised plasmas is analysed for various fusion relevant majority species, like hydrogen isotopes and helium, on the basis of a computational isothermal gyrofluid model for the plasma edge. Heavy hydrogen isotope plasmas show slower outward filament propagation and thus improved confinement properties ...

    • IT2-GSETSK: An evolving interval Type-II TSK fuzzy neural system for online modeling of noisy data

Ashrafi, Mohammad; Prasad, Dilip K.; Quek, Chai (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-05-12)
As a core part of a fuzzy neural system, the rule base antecedents and consequents may carry uncer- tainties because they are trained using noisy data. So, handling the uncertain rule base is an important need in some specific problems such as noisy non-dynamic problems which leads a better data model- ing. As a solution, Interval Type-II (IT2) version of GSETSK (Generic Self-Evolving ...
    • Jahn-Teller distortion in bis(terpyridine)nickel(III) – Elongation or compression?

Conradie, Jeanet (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-11-06)
DFT methods were used to evaluate the type of Jahn-Teller distortion in the low spin d7 bis(terpyridine)nickel (III) doublet. The strain of the tridentate terpyridine ligand in bis(terpyridine)nickel(III) leads to longer Ni(III)-N terminal bond lengths than the Ni(III)-N central bonds. In addition, in all DFT optimized bis(terpyridine)nickel (III) molecules, the one set of Ni(III)-N ...
    • Javza : a runtime supporting dynamic app configuration and integration in asymmetric systems

The advent of cloud computing alongside with pervasive form factors such as smart devices, introduces a new meaning to asymmetric system models. These new clients act as a presentational layer alleviating much of the computational and storage concerns to cloud services. The application platforms associated with these creates new opportunities for third party developers to provide domain specific ...
    • Jet-determination of symmetries of parabolic geometries

Kruglikov, Boris; The, Dennis (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2017-04-24)
We establish 2-jet determinacy for the symmetry algebra of the underlying structure of any (complex or real) parabolic geometry. At non-flat points, we prove that the symmetry algebra is in fact 1-jet determined. Moreover, we prove 1-jet determinacy at any point for a variety of non-flat parabolic geometries—in particular torsion-free, parabolic contact, and several other classes.

    • Joint Invariants of Linear Symplectic Actions

Andreassen, Fredrik; Kruglikov, Boris (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-12-07)
We review computations of joint invariants on a linear symplectic space, discuss variations for an extension of group and space and relate this to other equivalence problems and approaches, most importantly to differential invariants.
    • Joint Invariants of Symplectic and Contact Lie Algebra Actions

Andreassen, Fredrik (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2020-06-23)
By restricting generating functions of infinitesimal symmetries of symplectic and contact vector spaces to quadratic forms, we obtain a finite-dimensional Lie subalgebra, consisting of vector fields isomorphic to the linear symplectic or conformal symplectic algebra. This allows us to look for joint invariants of the diagonal action of g on product manifolds. We find an explicit recipe for creating ...
    • Joint optimization of an autoencoder for clustering and embedding

Boubekki, Ahcene; Kampffmeyer, Michael; Brefeld, Ulf; Jenssen, Robert (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2021-06-21)
Deep embedded clustering has become a dominating approach to unsupervised categorization of objects with deep neural networks. The optimization of the most popular methods alternates between the training of a deep autoencoder and a k-means clustering of the autoencoder’s embedding. The diachronic setting, however, prevents the former to beneft from valuable information acquired by the latter. In ...
    • Joint ranking and clustering based on Markov Chain transition probabilities learned from data

Løkse, Sigurd (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2014-12-15)
The focus of this thesis is to develop a Markov Chain based framework for joint ranking and clustering of a dataset without the need for critical user-defined hyper-parameters. Joint ranking and clustering may be useful in several respects, and may give additional insight for the data analyst, as opposed to the traditional separate ranking and clustering procedures. By coupling Markov ...
