I arbeidet med Rødlista for tovinger er 2748 arter vurdert, og av disse er 379 arter (13,8 %) rødlistet. De fleste tovingene på Rødlista 2021 er knyttet til skog. Tradisjonene rundt den eldgammel samiske bjørnejakten er godt dokumentert, både arkeologisk og etnografisk. Brunbjørnen var et fryktet og samtidig hellig dyr for samene. Spor etter bjørnejakten finner vi i form av graver med bjørnebein i huler og urer i den nordnorske naturen. Bjørnen ble hedret for å sikre jaktlykke og for å sikre bjørnens tilbakekomst og rettmessige plass i naturen.
