The need of concrete is getting more and more, experts have researched new materials to improve the good properties of concrete. Basalt fiber is a new additive in the concrete industry, so researches on basalt fiber concrete is not many. Previous research results have shown positive effects of basalt fiber on the mechanical strengths of the concrete. This task is performed by experiments to confirm the effect of basalt fiber on the main physical property of concrete, compressive strength. Due to limited time and lack of machines and resources, it is impossible to test other properties of concrete such as tensile strength, bending strength. In addition, the task focuses especially on capillary transport mechanism in order to compare capillary water absorbency of concrete with and without basalt fiber. The experiment bases on capillary water absorption. The results of this experiment will be foundation for identifying the limitations of the square root model. Then the model will be developed into a better one. Results from experiments show that basalt fiber has a beneficial effect on compressive strength. Capillary absorbability is inversely proportional to basalt fiber content in concrete. The smaller the basalt fiber content, the more water is absorbed in.
