    • A graphical deployment and management tool for distributed applications

Andersen, Anders; Aanensen, Thomas (Research report; Forskningsrapport, 2005)
OOPP is a component based middleware platform with support for complex distributed applications. The main goal of OOPP is to create an expressive programming model for distributed applications where by default details are hidden for the programmer. When necessary, reflection is used to expose and sometimes modify these details. All interaction with an OOPP component are specified by its component ...
    • Greedy weights for matroids

Johnsen, Trygve; Verdure, Hugues (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-12-19)
We introduce greedy weights of matroids, inspired by those for linear codes. We show that a Wei duality holds for two of these types of greedy weights for matroids. Moreover we show that in the cases where the matroids involved are associated to linear codes, our definitions coincide with those for codes. Thus our Wei duality is a generalization of that for linear codes given by Schaathun. In ...
    • A Green, Scalable, and Catalyst-Free One-Minute Synthesis of Quinoxalines

Elumalai, Vijayaragavan; Hansen, Jørn H (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2021-02-10)
A highly efficient and catalyst-free protocol is reported for the synthesis of quinoxalines via the classical cyclocondensation reaction between aryldiamines and dicarbonyl compounds. Remarkably simple and green reaction conditions employing methanol as solvent afforded medium to excellent yield of quinoxalines after only one-minute reaction time at ambient temperature. The conditions allow at least ...
    • A Green, Scalable, One-Minute Synthesis of Benzimidazoles

Elumalai, Vijayaragavan; Hansen, Jørn H (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-01-24)
Herein is reported a substantially improved synthesis of 2-substituted benzimidazoles by condensation of 1,2-diaminoarenes and aldehydes using methanol as the reaction medium. The developed method afforded moderate to excellent yields (33-96%) at ambient temperature, displays high functional group tolerance, is conducted open to air, and requires only one-minute reaction time under catalyst- ...
    • GreenBST: Energy-efficient concurrent search tree

Umar, Ibrahim; Anshus, Otto; Ha, Hoai Phuong (Conference object; Konferansebidrag, 2016-08-09)
Like other fundamental abstractions for energy-efficient com- puting, search trees need to support both high concurrency and fine- grained data locality. However, existing locality-aware search trees such as ones based on the van Emde Boas layout (vEB-based trees), poorly support concurrent (update) operations while existing highly-concurrent search trees such as the non-blocking binary search ...
    • Greenland ice sheet climate disequilibrium and committed sea-level rise

Box, Jason E.; Hubbard, Alun Lloyd; Bahr, David B.; Colgan, William T.; Fettweis, Xavier; Mankoff, Kenneth D.; Wehrlé, Adrien; Noel, Brice; Van Den Broeke, Michiel R.; Wouters, Bert; Bjørk, Anders A.; Fausto, Robert S. (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-08-29)
Ice loss from the Greenland ice sheet is one of the largest sources of contemporary sea-level rise (SLR). While process-based models place timescales on Greenland’s deglaciation, their confidence is obscured by model shortcomings including imprecise atmospheric and oceanic couplings. Here, we present a complementary approach resolving ice sheet disequilibrium with climate constrained by satellite-derived ...
    • Greenland Ice Sheet surface melt amplified by snowline migration and bare ice exposure

Ryan, J.C.; Smith, L.C.; Van As, D.; Cooley, S.W.; Cooper, M.G.; Pitcher, L.H.; Hubbard, A. (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2019-03-06)
Greenland Ice Sheet mass loss has recently increased because of enhanced surface melt and runoff. Since melt is critically modulated by surface albedo, understanding the processes and feedbacks that alter albedo is a prerequisite for accurately forecasting mass loss. Using satellite imagery, we demonstrate the importance of Greenland’s seasonally fluctuating snowline, which reduces ice sheet albedo ...
    • GridHTM: Grid-Based Hierarchical Temporal Memory for Anomaly Detection in Videos

Monakhov, Vladimir; Thambawita, Vajira L B; Halvorsen, Pål; Riegler, Michael (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-02-13)
The interest in video anomaly detection systems that can detect different types of anomalies, such as violent behaviours in surveillance videos, has gained traction in recent years. The current approaches employ deep learning to perform anomaly detection in videos, but this approach has multiple problems. For example, deep learning in general has issues with noise, concept drift, explainability, ...
    • Ground Dynamics in the Norwegian Periglacial Environment Investigated by Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry

Rouyet, Line (Doctoral thesis; Doktorgradsavhandling, 2021-09-10)
Cold polar and mountainous periglacial environments are characterised by highly dynamic ground surfaces that move under the action of frost and gravity, and contribute to shaping the landscape. The movement rates and directions are spatially and temporally variable, depending on the involved periglacial processes and their environmental controlling factors. Spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) ...
    • Grounding line proximal sediment characteristics at a marine-based, late-stage ice stream margin

Rüther, Denise Christina; Winsborrow, Monica; Andreassen, Karin; Forwick, Matthias (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2017-05-12)
Geomorphological evidence suggests that ice streams undergo frequent dynamic changes towards the end of their life cycles, but the associated sedimentary characteristics and processes remain poorly understood. Here, we present new sedimentological data from a Late Weichselian marine‐based ice stream in upper Bjørnøyrenna, northern Barents Sea, which experienced accelerated flow, intense calving of ...
    • Grounding-line fan formation during an Early Holocene readvance of Aldegondabreen, Svalbard.

Jóhannesdóttir, Jóhanna Kristín (Mastergradsoppgave; Master thesis, 2021-12-10)
In this study, two ridge-shaped cross-valley sedimentary landforms, in the lower forefield of Aldegondabreen, a small valley glacier on the west coast of Spitsbergen, Svalbard, were studied to reconstruct the Holocene glacial history of Aldegondabreen prior to the Little Ice Age. Sedimentological and geomorphological methods were used in conjunction with radiocarbon dating to examine the sediments ...
    • Groundwater springs formed during glacial retreat are a large source of methane in the high Arctic

Kleber, Gabreille E.; Hodson, Andrew; Magerl, Jasper Leonard; Mannerfelt, Erik Schytt; Bradbury, Harold J.; Zhu, Yizhu; Trimmer, Mark; Turchyn, Alexandra V. (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-07-06)
Permafrost and glaciers in the high Arctic form an impermeable ‘cryospheric cap’ that traps a large reservoir of subsurface methane, preventing it from reaching the atmosphere. Cryospheric vulnerability to climate warming is making releases of this methane possible. On Svalbard, where air temperatures are rising more than two times faster than the average for the Arctic, glaciers are retreating and ...
    • Group Based Asymmetry – A Fast Saliency Algorithm

Sharma, Puneet; Eiksund, Oddmar (Chapter; Bokkapittel, 2015-12-18)
In this paper, we propose a saliency model that makes two major changes in a latest state-of-the-art model known as group based asymmetry. First, based on the properties of the dihedral group D4 we simplify the asymmetry calculations associated with the measurement of saliency. This results is an algorithm which reduces the number of calculations by at-least half that makes it the fastest among the ...
    • Group Cohomology and Extensions

Breivik, Markus Nordvoll (Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2019-08-31)
The goal of this thesis is to classify all extensions where the kernel has order p^s and the cokernel has order p^t, p is a prime, and 1 ≤ s,t ≤ 2. We determine (up to weak congruence) the different combinations of kernel, cokernel and operators, and for each case, calculate the second cohomology group. By comparing resolutions, we get an explicit correspondence between the second cohomology group ...

    • Guided U-Net Aided Efficient Image Data Storing with Shape Preservation

Banerjee, Nirwan; Malakar, Samir; Gupta, Deepak Kumar; Horsch, Ludwig Alexander; Prasad, Dilip Kumar (Chapter; Bokkapittel, 2023-11-02)
The proliferation of high-content microscopes ( 32 GB for a single image) and the increasing amount of image data generated daily have created a pressing need for compact storage solutions. Not only is the storage of such massive image data cumbersome, but it also requires a significant amount of storage and data bandwidth for transmission. To address this issue, we present a novel deep learning ...
