In the present study, primary responses (cortisol secretion) to long-term and short-term hypoxia are examined. For the long-term experiment groups that were exposed to lower oxygen saturation; 55%, 69% and 81% had increased plasma cortisol levels and decreased final body mass, length and overall specific growth rate compared to the control group which were exposed to 96% oxygen saturation.en_US
