Family Aggression Replacement Training (Family-ART) is a multimodal intervention method for children and their families. The purpose of Family-ART is to enhance social competence and reduce problem behavior. The present study assessed the effects of a Family-ART intervention given to 12 children and their families. The Social Skills Rating System (SSRS) was adopted to measure changes in social skills and problem behavior in a pre-test post-test design. Additionally, the SSRS sub-scales were analyzed in order to more closely examine the changes. The results indicated an enhancement in social competence, but a fluctuating picture of change in regard to problem behavior. Possible explanations for the tendency obtained is discussed.
