    • Geomagnetically induced currents in a Norwegian transformer station

Solheim, Kristian Thinn; Mo, Olve; Johnsen, Magnar Gullikstad (Research report; Forskningsrapport, 2022-05-11)
This report considers measurements of geomagnetically induced current (GIC) and comparison to recorded variations in the geomagnetic field (dB/dt). The GIC-sensors were installed in the neutral point of a 420 kV transformer located in Mid-Norway in 2019. The magnetometers (for dB/dt) are also located in Mid-Norway, but at another location. Recordings up to December 2021 are presented in this report. ...

Methods: We used monthly death rates for Russia and 83 regions ...
    • Building a research data archive - what flavour should it be?

Hasan, Adil; Conzett, Philipp (Conference object; Konferansebidrag, 2022-06)
The Sigma2 Research Data Archive in Norway has been running for more than 7 years and has accumulated more than 500TiB of data distributed over more than 400 datasets. Some datasets have been downloaded more than 600 times since their deposit. During this time, we have seen the needs of our researchers change as their experience with data management has matured. To address these needs, a project ...

Gallego, Inma; Font aulet, Xavier; González-Rodríguez, M. Rosario (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-02-10)
We study how risk conditions derived from the COVID-19 pandemic may impact on both the desire to travel and intention to visit of tourists and, therefore, on different stages of the destination choice process. We analyse 5134 million flight searches and 379 million flight picks during 2020 for the 17 largest European tourism source markets. An unweighted index number is employed to measure the ...

Although the concept of the blue economy was created by the Small Island Developing States, its relevance extends to any coastal region around the globe, making the engagement of both state and corporate actors imperative. At the core of the blue economy framework stands the incorporation of ocean values and services into economic modeling and governance. Sustainable fisheries and aquaculture are ...
    • Storylines in public news media about mathematics education and minoritized students

Andersson, Annica; Ryan, Ulrika; Herbel-Eisenmann, Beth; Huru, Hilja Lisa; Wagner, David Richard (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-07-02)
Public media both refects and shapes societal perceptions and attitudes. Teachers and others around students in mathematics classrooms have expectations for the students, projected with what appears in these media. We are most concerned about the expectations placed on students who are identifed with minoritized groups—particularly students who are Indigenous or migrated to Norway. We investigate ...

    • Active and passive transductions - Definitions and implications for learning

Svensson, Kim; Campos, Esmeralda; Eriksson, Urban (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-02-21)
To move between different semiotic systems, such as graphs and formulas, is a necessary step in learning physics or solving problems. In social semiotics, this movement of semiotic material is called a transduction and during a transduction a student must unpack, filter, and highlight different aspects of the concept or problem. Unpacking, filtering, and highlighting have been shown to be important ...

Cyclometalated Au(III) complexes are of interest due to their catalytic, medicinal, and photophysical properties. Herein, we describe the synthesis of derivatives of the type (N,C)Au(OAcF)2 (OAcF = trifluoroacetate) and (N,C,C)AuOAcF by a cyclometalation route, where (N,C) and (N,C,C) are chelating 2-arylpyridine ligands. The scope of the synthesis is explored by substituting the 2-arylpyridine core ...
